| Chicken Leg? I cook for rocky, and most of the time its Chicken breast white meat. Can i boil and give him a chicken leg, without the skin, just the bone with meat on it. Is it safe, with bone and all, I am sure he will chew the bone too to the end. |

| No, it is never ever okay to give cooked bones. You can take the meat off of it but I like using white meat because it is much less fatty, so less risk of it causing a problem.

| Chicken bones when cooked become brittle. I wouldn't do that because he could choke. To me that would be very dangerous. I have read where people give raw chicken legs to their dogs but if your's don't eat raw I wouldn't do that either. Stick with the white meat only. |

| Thanks, I thought the same thing, fearing the bone getting stuck and hurting him. I was just thinking of a bone as a manly thing for him to chew on. |

| I am definately not recommending that you give any type of bone but raw feeders do it, just not cooked. There are only certain kinds that are considered safe also.

Consulting with a nutritionist would be best. Ellie got pancreatitis around the time that she ate lean beef, so it makes me nervous. Just watch the fat content. You can also give lamb but again watch the fat. Turkey breast (the frozen kind that are probably around 10 pounds) are good but I would only do the breast...not a whole turkey with dark meat. I would not give skin or fat with that at all. Egg is okay but some people don't give the yolk. Fish is good.

| In turkey and chicken, the dark meat is too rich, and can give them diarrhea..stick with the white meat, and no bones....cooked bones can splinter(which I'm sure has already been said) |

| personally I only give bits of cooked meat for treats occasionally and liver for training treats......but on a regular basis their systems were not designed for cooked meat and it can be very damaging in the long run.......I actually just now came back from the supermarket and got a package of chicken legs.....my furkids will enjoy these over the weekend RAW of course.....try it ....they will go bananas!
