| HELP my yorkies dody temperature fell to 98.9F hello everyone, my 6 month year old yorkie, Puf, won't stop shaking and trembling, he has had a body temperature of 98.9F to 99.5F for the past 5 days, I read that the normal temperature is of at least 100.5F and that he could enter in shock if not treated soon. I've tried everything, warming him up, exercise, sweaters, and when his temperature goes up to 100.5F once again, after an hour it drops back to 99.3F. Of what I've read, I think it may be hypoglycemia, because he doesn't have much appetite either. I've called my vet everyday, and he just keeps telling me to warm him up, I asked him if he thinks it could be hypoglycemia and he says he doubts it. I don't know what else to to, someone please HELP! ps: just so to inform his current state, he was the healthiest puppy in the world, happy, bouncy, etc, upto a month ago, august 28th 2008, when he was given his rabies vaccine, after that, he hasn't been the same, the day of the vaccine he vomited 21 times. Where the vaccine had been given in his upper back a rash appeared and all his hair fell off in a circular area of approximately 2 inches wide. Last Wednesday the vet told me it was an allergy reaction and sent him these medicines: Lavesana cream three times a day, 2 cc of dermoquim daily, antibiotics for a week just in case to prevent a possible bacterial infection and 1/4 of a 5mm prodnisone tablet daily, against allergies. thanks to anybody who could at least give their opinion!! |

| How horrible for your little pup. If a Yorkie vomited 21 times, the vet should've sent him to a specialty or teaching hospital for intensive care. That is the rectal temperature, right? He needs to go to a vet that is going to try and figure out what is wrong. Trying to warm him up at home when it hasn't worked for 5 days seems like a waste of time. I'd get him to a different vet immediately. If rabies vaccines are required where you live, I would definately find a vet to sign a waiver for Puf.
