How much food? We have a 7 month yorkie that we feed EVO to. How much should we be feeding him a day? Right now we have been doing 1/4 cup twice a day.

Evo has a tendency to pack on the pounds so you really have to watch the amount you feed. It's less than most other kibble. Since he's still a puppy you can probably feed him the amount recommended on the bag, but you have to watch it as he gets older.

Amazon.com: Rubbermaid Clear 8 Oz. Measuring Cup:... Oh my. Does this mean I've been underfeeding my dogs?? I always thought it's more like the tea cups or something But Mocha is maintaining her weight fine! The vet even says she's a bit chunky, but still good weight. And if I feed her according to the Orijen's bag, that means I have to feed her 8 ounces = 226.796185 grams a day, or more??? YIKES!!! That's alot!!! Ok now I'm confused. | |

One cup equals 8 fluid ounces. A cup of dry dog food will likely weigh less. Need to look at the volume in a cup, not the weight.

Yes, that is what I mean by a cup. Are you breaking their amount up into a few meals a day or just one meal a day ?? It is always best to feed adult dogs 2x a day and puppies 3 or more. The same amount overall, just broken down into smaller meals. It is much easier for their digestive system. If you have any more questions PLEASE feel free to ask all you like. Everyone here on Yorkietalk is MORE THAN HAPPY TO HELP !!! I hope this info helps you out some.

I know, you all are a great bunch I feed Mocha twice a day. I used to feed her thrice a day, 6AM, 12AM and 6PM. But lately she's not eating that much, so I cut it down to 2 and a half meals a day. Everything else is fine though, I don't think she's eating less because of any problem, I think she just figured out she's not going to starve or something if she doesn't inhale her food Also because she's getting older, maybe she knows now she can relax her eating style. Anyhow, if I've been feeding her less than I'm supposed to, why is she maintaining her weight? She doesn't starve. She takes about 5-10 minute to finish her meals, all casual like. She eats, walks around, eat some more, walk, eat. After meal, she pees, drinks, the poos. I didn't think this was a problem as she will finish her meal, always. I actually like that she eats slow now, rather than vacuum cleaner style. I'm still confused LOL. P.S: Mocha is gonna be 8 months on the 8th. She weighs about 4.5lbs. LOADS of energy. Dear god, I cannot keep up lol. Last edited by Babz; 10-06-2008 at 10:34 AM.
