| Frontline and Heartguard dose? How old does your puppy need to be before he starts using heartguard and frontline? Also, the dose per weight seems really high. Up to 25 pounds for the kind they get. My oldest is only 6.7 pounds. I've heard of people splitting one bottle between their two dogs. What does everyone think of this? Also, does anyone share the heartguard pills too? I'm not worried about the price of these things it's just that the dose seems really high for such little dogs. |

| I did split Frontline and do it now with Comfortis too but you can't split Heartguard chewable cubes b/c the medicine is somewhere in that cube and if you break it you never know who gets some protection. You can start with any heartworm prevention before they are 6 months old b/c the life circle of the heart worm isn't completed by then. After that you need to have your baby heartworm tested before you give it to him b/c the medicine could cause him to die if there are heartworms already present. You can use frontline on puppies as young as 12 weeks. BTW... where in Germany do you live? I'm from Munich... Last edited by Mitzis Mom; 10-05-2008 at 03:31 AM. |

| I split the Frontline between my 2 yorkies. It seems to me that if a container takes care of a 25 pound dog it would protect 2 smaller dogs. I have never had a flea or tick problem and have always done this. |

| How can I split frontline, I only have 1 dog. Can the remaining fluid be kept and given the next month?

Donating YT Addict | I buy the large dosage of frontline plus and pour it into a small glass vial with lid. The regular dosage for small dogs up to 22 lbs is 0.67 ml so i just use a syringe with no needle to take out .33 ml and use in on the base of his neck. My vet told me to use the whole dosage, but i still use half and it seems to work. Tyke weighs about 3 lbs right now. It's cheaper in the long run to buy the large is why i do it this way because your paying for those small premeasured containers they come in.
