tearing I had to go back a couple of times, because she was really crusted in a couple of places. I haven't noticed any odor, but I'm sure it will help. Every bit of the crusting came off - it looked better than when she went to the groomers! |
Bellasmomok, Hi! I am from OK too! hey - believe it or not it is not a "size" thing. My yorkie is large for a yorkie. he weighs 8 lbs and he is not overweight at all. He is just a big yorkie. Anyway, his tearducts ran and ran all the time. It was so bad I would have clumps of gunk to remove from his eyes/face every day. The vet said that the lower eyelid "rolls" in (you can't tell by just looking, but the vet can tell), and she said yorkies and maltese are the most prone to this. It is a problem with the bottom eyelid. I hope the distilled water works for you - that would be great. But my vet recommended this surgery where they "unroll" the eyelid and "tuck" it (whatever that means). Anyway, I did the surgery with Lucky and his tearing cleared up 99%!! It was a miracle! His was SO bad before the surgery. The downfall is you have to pay for the surgery....so if money is an issue, then I would stick with the distilled water. But do not be surprised if you always have some tearing - your dog is beautiful no matter what - it is just part of it. Just keep some eye wipes on hand (you can get them at petco or petsmart, probably walmart too), and wipe his eyes each day to keep it to a minimum. Best of luck!! |
bellasmomok, Oh and when I say get eyewipes, I mean "dog" eyewipes. They do have them specifically for dogs. let me know how things go!! |
