| Dog Food Project With so many threads here asking about dog foods, I thought I'd share a site I've found. It's called The Dog Food Project. Here's the link The Dog Food Project - How does your Dog Food Brand compare? This site offers some good info on how to interpret labels, good ingredients to look for, bad ones to avoid, etc. There's lots of other feeding and nutrition info there that really helps to give a good basic understanding of nutrition and how to feed your dog a healthy diet and to make an informed decision in selecting a brand. It's great that members here share what they feed and why or refer someone to dogfoodanalysis.com or some other review site but I think the Dog Food Project site will really help the average owner have a better understanding in making choices for themselves. The site's author is selling nutrition consults but, still, offers some very good info on the website that most will find informative. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This is the website I referred you to back when we were discussing Menadione. Remember? I think you even sent a portion of it into Fosters & Smith when you called them to the carpet for using Menadione, lol (and GOOD for you!!). It's a great website , I really like it for that Menadione tidbit alone ! It comes in handy, huh?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I agree! I think sometimes folks get turned off by the dog food review site - maybe bc it's just one group's "slant" (or whatever), so it's always good to remind all of us that there *are* other sites out there to ponder. I like her site bc she too looks at ingredients themselves, you know? I really enjoy learning more about what is IN the food. Love that!

| I decided to go for "more protein" after reading about what she has to say. Of course, many people here helped me immensely. Don't know what I'd do without advice from Wylie's Mom, Marci, etc. |

| I recently switched to a higher protein food, also. The food I was using had 21%; now I'm feeding a food that is 36% protein. I looked at many sites (and heard the opinion of many here) before being comfortable with that decision. All my dogs are doing great on the new food and are holding their weight while feeding them a bit less. |

| Well, I went with something that no one here uses, apparently, LOL. I'm now using Nature's Logic. What really sold me on it is that they use no synthetic vitamins or minerals in their formulas. Read their ingredient list and everything is food except for the probiotics......no synthetic vitamins or proteinated minerals. I've not found any other kibble that doesn't use synthetic vits. and mins., no matter the quality of the other ingredients. Getting everything from food sources rather than compounds is much better, IMO. One thing to remember, too, is that most of the compounds that are being used for the vitamins and minerals are coming from China, and I have no confidence in the quality or safety of anything coming from there. Nature's Logic comes in 4 varieties: Chicken, Lamb, Venison and Duck w/ Salmon. It also contains montmorillionite clay, which is an edible clay that is useful in removing toxins from the body. Here's a link to their home page. Nature's Logic |
