| ![]() Hi, Found this forum in my search for new food for my Yorkies. I have fed Canidae Chicken & Rice formula to my Yorkies for over 3 years. Since they changed the formula, my Yorkies have insanely large stools - the same color as the the food that went in & in amounts that seem larger than what they have actually eaten. (My dogs did like the taste.) My youngest Yorkie is about 8 months old and she has been very gasy on it, coat is duller than what it should be. I am actively searching for a new food for them. I sell Canidae and my clients all are unhappy and have had simlar results to what I have - except most of their dogs didn't want to eat the new formula. I can't believe that Canidae would take a formula that works and change it so dramatically. They changed numerous things about the formula, made the bags smaller and raised the price and with little announcement and the worst thing of all is now they have Diamond making the food for them. ![]() Rachel |

| ![]() Hey Rachel, I don't know much, but large stools is a no-no. Especially if it's LARGER than what went in - I mean, how did that happen? So disappointing, for Canidae to drop so low. They were once one of the top guns, now I hear people complaining left and right. I changed cold turkey from Science Diet to Orijen. Both my dogs never had any problem with the change like loose, watery stools and whatnot. It's been about 2 weeks, and already you can see improvements on my dogs, top to bottom. The most evident will be in their coats - my Yorkie Mocha who eats regularly and cleans her bowl every time, has such a nice coat now! Shiny and "falls" very nicely on her body. My shihtzu Lulu who is such a picky eater she won't eat for 2 days if she does not like the taste of some food, well, suffice to say she eats EVERY DAY now, without fail. She has white/blonde hair, and I noticed the past 2 weeks, her white coat is whiter now it's snowy white, her fur is not so dry anymore, and she actually asks for food, when before, food for her was a take it or leave it kinda thing ![]() So many people in my country say, dog food is a gimmick, it doesn't matter what you feed a dog, some people feed their dogs Pedigree and the dogs lived to 15 years.. Well, I have never fed Pedigree so I wouldn't know, but I believe my dogs won't, and can't lie. I'm so grateful that I listened and looked around. Good food - great dogs. To risk sounding like a commercial, seeing is believing ![]() Other food around here that people have recommended: Innova Evo Nature's Variety Raw Medallions Orijen Merrick Wellness Good luck finding new food for your babies ![]() |

| ![]() I think All Life stage formula is the same, though when I bought a new bag the color of kibbles was different ( a little lighter). I tried many times to click on the link "new formula" in dogfoodproject, but the link didn't work. And I forgot the link to the site when they compare different dog foods. Can anybody help me with this ? Thanks

| ![]() I can't answer the question for certain, however I won't knowingly feed my dogs any food that is producted at the Diamond Dog Food Company. A couple of years ago when dogs started dying from eating Diamond brand, the manufacturers KNEW about the problem but did not immediately recall the products. I had a bit of inside information - the farm supply store that I purchase horse feed from carried Diamond Food. When they finally DID reclal the food, they refused to give their retailers refunds, only a voucher for MORE OF THEIR PRODUCTS. How is that for customer service. Since that time I refuse to help support Diamond. |

| ![]() Thank you Rachel. I don't have an old bag and the link for new formula in dogfoodproject still doesn't work for me.

| ![]() I am currently searching for a new dog food. I have been feeding Canidae to my dogs for 3 years and with the new formula change, I can't get them to eat it! For some reason they don't like the taste anymore and will only eat if I add some wet food. ![]()

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() I was told (by the woman where I have been buying Canidae for 3 yrs now) that the only food that made a change was the Lamb and rice. I cannot for the life of me understand why they would change their formula! It was a great food and I felt safe feeding it to the girls. I mix merricks dry with the Canidae for a little variety for them...If it is true that the chicken has changed as well it looks like I may be changing them over to just merricks.

| ![]() I was chatting w/ the manager at walgreens yesterday when I took Abby and Daisy in to get thier pictures taken and she told me that she has been feeding Canidae to her Shorkie and with the newest bag she bought, the pup has had loose stools and asked what I fed my dog.... Anyway, I told her that I'd read here that the formula had been changed and she wondered if that's what was causing her pup's loose stools. She said she'd had no problems previously.
