As I stated previously: they don't like you splitting the pills (lost revenue). My vet didn't want me to do it, so I called the pharmaceutical company directly. "Oh no," they said. "You can't be assured that you'll get the proper amount of medicine if you do that". So I asked them just like I said above: So you're telling me that you have some pills that are "hot" (too much med) and some that are basically placebos (no med at all)? The answer was, "Well of course not". To which I replied, "Then why can't I split the pill?" After a brief silence - during which I *swear* I could hear wheels turning! - she told me, "Well, we just don't recommend it, that's all." So, take that as you may; I took it to mean that I could split them. Last edited by Lee B; 09-09-2008 at 08:02 AM. | |

Oh, and he did correct me..... my dogs take Sentinel (flea/heartworm) once a month and the Comfortis once a month. I was thinking Advantage but I think that's the topical one we use for the cats.

The reason we use Sentinel and Comfortis both (spaced out by two weeks) is because separately, they really don't cover the entire month in coverage. By overlapping them like we do, one kicks in when the other is weakening.

| After a little more searching, I found it cheaper here: COMFORTIS - Allivet Trusted Pet Pharmacy Are you saying that, for $10 they have a vet who will write the scrip for you? IOW, I won't have to go to my vet and pay an arm and a leg (I REALLY need to get another vet!) for a piece of paper? |

| Scooter was 6 lb. when we got him and I never used a whole tube. I carefully sealed it up with band aids and put in the back of his cabinet where I knew it wouldn't get tipped over. He never had fleas.
