| My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I have a couple major poop eaters and its driving me nuts! My babies are trained to potty on the pads and they do...and then my little poop eaters go get it off the pad and drag it EVERYWHERE and it gets smeared on my carpet , in their beds...its just gross! I would have to treat them all, and it needs to be healthy for them. Anyone have any ideas? I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED of POOP!!!!! |

| Give them a little fresh pineapple each day. It definately makes the poop nasty to them.

Lol, like poop doesn't taste nasty enough. Actually how pineapple works is through an enzyme action. The dog smells undigested protein in the poop, and it smells good to him. The pineapple works by helping to digest this protein so that the resulting poop has no nutrition left in it. Meat tenderizer works in much the same way. I would take a look at the food I was feeding to make sure it contains an easy to digest protein as well. Another reason for Coprophagia (poop eating) in dogs is that they have been scolded harshly for pooping in the wrong place, and want to hide the evidence. Here's a link that has more information: and what you can do about it. Stopping Dogs From Eating Poop

But they are so good. There has not been one mistake all day today. Just 1 of the poo eaters stealing a poo and thinking they have a prize! I will say I find its my youngest ones doing it.

| Are you feeding a high quality food? Lesser quality food does not completely digest, making it just as tasty coming out as it was going in. I have heard that the pineapple works. There are also things you can put in/on the food to make the poop taste bad.

They are pooping LESS and less often...just my young ones still find it as a treat. And it isn't ALL poop...just certain ones. Like Tia's is a favorite.

| Roxy and TJ are almost 4 years old. I have been battling this for 3.5 yrs. Trust me ~ I have tried EVERYTHING....This has now turned into a behavioral issue. What is currently working is a very special treat for no poop eating. The treat is so good, that they come to tell me there is poop to flush Reese's Peanut Butter Chips (from the baking isle). They both get one chip when "I" get to pick up poop and flush it. And they never get this treat for anything else! I know this may not work for you since you have a handful of pups ~ as I only have Roxy and TJ ~ But I have learned to behaviorally treat their poop eating b/c mine are definitely eating it due to behavioral reasons now after all this time. I have also started to walk them every morning (so there is less boredom during the day) Best Luck and I hope you can find something to resolve this nasty habit! |

| I have the same problem Breny...so gross. I've tried the Forbid and something else...can't remember the name and the meat tendorizer. Nothing is working. I will try the pineapple and reading that artcle. One of mine even stands waiting on the poo to drop to the floor so they can get it before me. I just yell NO and hurry and get it picked up.

| Sergeant grew out of his poop-picker-upper habit. he never actually ate it tho, he would just move it somewhere else. When we were potty training i put a accident poop on the paper (thinking he would get the hint thats where poops go) and the little brat picked it up and put right back where he made it in the first place.
