| Excerise: How much does your Yorkie get I can't find my other post, so here I go again. I walk mine around the neighborhood or take him to different parks. Sometimes we walk 30-45 mins and other times a few + hours as I did yesterday. That is inbetween all the sniffing and socializing with other doggies |

| Usually about 20- 30 mins. We have a nice park about 2 mins driving distance a way so I sometimes take them there or I walk them in the neighborhood

| Every since we got pepper we've noticed how inactive we are and she has given us motivation to go on frequent walks with her. We usually only walk a few blocks and then back to our place but she is so small (3.6 lbs) that we don't want to overwork her. It's something I've been meaning to look into. Should I be getting her more exercise despite her size? Thanks in advance. |

| It varies from day to day but during the weekdays, Padre has a dogwalker that plays with him in a small park and walks with him for 1 hour total. During the days when we're home with him, we love to take him to the park to play fetch (about an hour), walk around the neighborhood (about 30 minutes) or even go hiking. We asked the vet about over-exercise and he said that as long as Padre is acting interested and energetic, it's fine. We usually carry a small bag with us to let him "ride" in once he gets tired but still wants to be near us, out and about. I guess I would say anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours..... Hope this helps! |

| Cesar Milan recommends 45 minutes a day and first thing in the morning, but I just can't get myself up at 4:00 AM to get a walk in before work plus being dark at that hour. I also agree that 45 minute walk might be a little much for our little ones; Maybelline is also only 3.75 lbs.

I don't think the size of your dog or any dog has anything to do with excerise. If he willing and ready, go for it~! Sometimes my Yorkie will go half a block where there is a field to do his biz at and then turns around and wants to go home. Other times, he adventure around the area and explore. Now if I take him to the park, it is the same thing. He's very smart and knows where I park the car and heads to it after a lap and/or if there isn't any more doggies around to meet. Do any of your cities have dog parks~? I am not a member but take him there now and then. Today, he didn't want to leave there. He ran with the big doggies there....from German Shepards to St. Bernards and larger. He loved it | |

| I walk Conner for 30 minutes before I leave for work. I work part-time, and get out at 2:30 every day so I walk him at the park after work for about an hour. He looks forward to his walks and stares at me in the morning and when I get home until I put his harness on him.

| I talked with my vet about taking my lil one out to the local dog park as I was worried about her maybe getting fleas.....my vet said that she could get more then fleas there...sooooo I am extremely hesitant about taking her....so for the time being it will just be walk around the neighborhood and the local grass areas here... I sure would love to find an area where I could just let her run loose and not have to worry..

| Well, according to the books I've read. Because of their size, running around the house is enough excerise. But I think, if your yorkie is up to more.. then go for it! What I do with Mochi and Chiqui, since their complete opposites. Mochie is more of a laid back dog. While, Chiqui is more active and playful. When I take them out to go pee & poo, after I take them to the backyard and let them run around till they get tired and lay on the grass. Usually, around 10-20 mins a day. They never seem overworked. If it's a nice day... I also like to stay outside and relax on a layout chair. They love to do the same and layout in the sun! |
