| I give the dogs heartguard on the 1st of each month, I have a appointment with a new vet on the 3rd of Sept for Peanut, a vet that doesn't over vaccinate. Will he be ok or should I see if his current vet will give him a refill. |

| Senior Yorkie Talker | I use Interceptor for all of my dogs. My vet told me if you have your dog on heartworm medicine and they still come up positive for heartworm if you can prove they were on the medicine the medicine company will pay for the heartworm treatment to remove the worms (which can get pretty pricey). I just buy mine at my vet's though since they would be the one contacting the company if, God forbid, they turn up positive, that way everything is in their records and no one is expecting me to find wherever the receipt went lol. It seems to be doing the trick but they've only been on it for a month....although I love not having to give them liquid wormer all the time...it's all in the little pill (except tapeworm!) And when I priced Interceptor, Sentinel and Heartgard, Interceptor was cheaper than the Sentinel, just like 0.50 cents more than the Heartgard, BUT it treats more worms and mine seem to like it. Two of my dogs use the same size pill so my vet has it on their records that they share the box I buy them, which is helpful if they should ever have issues. Hope that helps. I think the 6 month supply I bought for Gwen (Yorkie) was like $24 and some change which isn't bad when you think about the fact that it is $4 or so per month.

| I use Ivermec daily for all 6 of my dogs. It is SO much cheaper and effective. It is the main ingrediant in heartworm medications. I got started on it from my vet b/c one of my guys had demodex for a few months and once I realized the savings of using it, I just switched all my babies to it! You can get it from any farm supply store. Just make sure you knwo your dosage!!
