Yorkie Yakker | is there a limit on how many carrots to give for a treat? When i got my yorkie who is now 11 months, the breeder told me she liked raw carrots. i looked it up in a yorkie magazine as well and it said raw carrots were a good treat. i just recently started giving her the baby carrots and breaking them in half and i give them about 3 at a time. I usually do this once or twice a day. my cocker spaniel eats about half of them so princess only gets about 1.5 baby carrots. i was just wondering if i should limit how many she gets. Has anyone been feeding their dogs carrots? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Carrots are great little treats ! Especially if your baby is already used to them. The only time to use caution is when you're introducing them, as they could cause some diarrhea. Carrots are one of the more "sugary" vegetables, but really, it's still a vegetable - so it's a nice treat. When I give it as a "chew" I usually give about 1-2 to Marcel (3.4 lbs) and 2-3 to Wylie (7.8 lbs.).

I Love My Babies Donating Member | I cut them up very fine and give them to my babies. TJ and Dexter love them.. Sandy will eat them because the boys do... but she would rather have an apple. I never thought about allowing them to just chew on the carrot. I was always afraid they may bite off too big a piece and choke on it.

| I've heard that large pieces are hard for them to digest and too many can be a vitamin A overload.. but i'm not sure how true that is. I'd give 1-2 baby carrots a day. |

| Kayla loves them. It is so funny because she will growl the whole time she is eating them afraid Tina or Mandy will get one of hers. I usually just give them a couple each. |
