| Constipation? Hello everyone, tonight my baby had a horrible time I noticed her squatting inside so I grabbed her quickly and put her outside. She continued to squat but nothing happened. She kept trying and trying but to no avail. So I checked her behind and she had a (sorry for the detailsLOL) small piece of poo stuck half way in- half way out. I let her try for another good 30 minutes, but she still hadn't gone. I took her inside, and she still had poo trying to come out. So I gave her a good bath and cleaned it all off of her. Was she constipated? That's what it seemed like to me, and if so, what could have caused this? I feed her Nature's Recipe, and I have been letting her eat these poultry flavored teething sticks. I think it might be the sticks, but I am not sure. Or could it be that she had she gone and it just got tangled in her hair? It seemed like it just couldn't come out of her. Can someone please give me their opinion on what could have caused this? She was horribly miserable and I felt really sorry for her Thanks very much!!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | IDK, for certain that is what caused her problem but the poultry flavored teething sticks may be it. If the sticks are made of rawhide it's possible they caused a blockage. You can try giving a little canned pumpkin (not pie filing) for constipation. You have to be careful with chew sticks, treats, etc. with yorkies. Many of them can cause digestive and serious medical problems.

| Sorry your furbaby's backed up Try a teaspoon or two of canned pumpkin. Make sure it's just plain canned pumpkin, and not the pumpkin pie filling (has too much sugar and spices and other fillers). I bought a can awhile back and froze the rest in small containers for the next time my two have poo problems. Canned pumpkin will help with constipation and/or with diarrhea, it's a natural way to get the digestive tract back to normal. I would also push fluids-try giving her some ice cubes, and make sure she's drinking enough water. Fiber also might help-discontinue the treats she's eating now, and try small pieces of fruit like bananas, apples (no seeds!) or veggies like spinach leaves, squash, or carrot pieces. Edit: Make sure you DON'T give her any raisins or grapes as fruit-they can be toxic to dogs.
