| Heartworm & Flea/Tick control suggestions? I'm trying to decide which meds to go with for my little Jackson and Bear when they come home. As far as heartworm meds go, the two major brands appear to be Heartgard Plus and Ivehart Plus. What do you guys use and what would you suggest for my new boys? As far as flea treatment goes, I'd prefer something that takes care of ticks as well but the only one I can find that says it takes care of both fleas and ticks is K-9 Advantix. Does anyone use flea/tick collars anymore or does pretty much everyone use the topical treatments? Again, what do you guys use and what would you suggest? It's been several years since I've had a Yorkie in the house, much less two puppies at once, and I want to do right by my little guys. I've grown to trust the judgement and experience of my fellow YTers. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. - Byron |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I use heartguard for preventative. I liked the chewable ones...mine all think it's a treat. I used frontline plus for fleas. I actually use 1/2 a dose because of the dogs' sizes. It still works. I have never seen a flea on them, but understand if a tick bites them while using frontline...it will die. I always found flea collars to be largely ineffective. Who other than Hartz makes flea colllars? Hartz other flea products are deadly so I would never buy any flea control product sold under their name.
