Senior Yorkie Talker | Giving A Yorkie A Bath??? Everytime I give my Yorkie a bath, his coat always ends up dry and poofy. I do blowdry him after giving him a bath. And lately, I've started to put a little baby oil on him before I comb & blow dry so his coat isn't so dry. Anyway, he has short/medium length hair and I was wondering, how can I get his coat healthier and do I have to blow dry him or can he stay wrapped in a towel? |

| I don't blow dry mine. I wrap in a towel or bath robe - My Bubba could stay like that forever - while Roxy is out of the towel fast and wants to dry herself on the towel or just run free. I'm not sure I would recommend baby oil. I have used Sweet Almond Oil before, as I know others have. I really like Vellus Satin Cream also http://www.vellus.com/ you could check with others about what proper oils they have found that work

| happy bathing! i use a nice high quality conditioner made for dogs. i like cain and able because it softens and repels fleas + all natural. i air dry him. the blow dryer makes him too upset. heads up * watch out for getting water in their ears. no one told me early on and i wish someone did. i didn't hurt him..i just wasn't aware of the dangers.

| pLEASE NO BABY OIL!! I used that when my Yuri was 6-7mths old and by the time he was 7mths his hair was as short as a pups.granted he looked like an angel at first. you can use almond oil,or go to the pet store and try something formulated for dogs. I can't recommend what I use now,I am always the one who strays from the road more traveled

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks so much for the advice. And no more baby oil for Daemar!! I use this shampoo his vet gave me that has Omega-3's in it... I think I'm going to get his hair cut to a puppy cut again, since he loves to roll around & get matted up and hates hair in his eyes and absolutely HATES ribbons!!! *sigh*, Well, I'm definitely going to check out these products you all recommended and ask my groomer a few questions.. Again, thanks!!! |

| What kind of food do you feed him? A Yorkie's diet can have more to do with the quality of his coat than the grooming products you use sometimes... |
