| Vaccinations and Extreme PAIN My baby boy just got vaccinated with Corona, Distemper, Parvo and Rabies. When we got home he couldn't walk, could only sit up. Just sitting there shaking. He hasn't gone potty since before we took him at 2pm. He is in extreme pain. By the time we thought to call the doc for a pain med they were closed. I ran out to find baby asprin (non-coated) and I could only find chewable. I wanted liquid but as far as I know it's not being made. He's finally asleep now (laying down) in his bed. Poor thing. Oh we did give him a shot of benedryl so there wouldn't be any 'adverse reactions'... Well I'm convinced that my baby will not have any more shots unless its the rabies every 3 years. No way no how. I am so pissed. The vet is so nice and everything but apparently she knows nothing about toy breeds. I just want to rip their heads off for doing this to my baby.

| Since the rabies has the most potential for reactions, it should always be given separately. Corona causes reactions and isn't necessary. Before I knew anything about vaccines, a vet gave Ellie way too many in one day and she had a very serious reaction. Are his gums pink or gray/white? If they are anything but pink he needs to go to the ER. Some pain and lethargy can be normal but he should be able to stand and he really shouldn't be shaking.

I just checked he is very lethargic, gums are a good pink. If he isn't more active by tomorrow morning I will definitely be calling a vet... And probably not the one I went to. GRR. Yes I just read some on the vaccines and giving him all those in one sitting was just plain stupid. I will not be vaccinating him again unless its required by state or federal law and only at the last moment. Ugh. I am just so upset. I feel so horrible that I put my baby through this.

| If the gum are good pink , he probably just need to take a good nap . Some puppies have reactions to the vaccination and some dont . |

| What is the Corona vaccine for? I am very sorry the vet gave your dog that many vaccinations! That is way too many for such a little dog. My Suzi needs her rabies shot, and I have told the vet she does not need any more then that ! Rabies shot can give a dog a reaction too. Let your Yorkie sleep it off, and make sure he is drinking water .

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | POOR BABY and I would find a new vet ! they shouldn't have given him that many all at once and I don't even know WHY they gave you Corona ?? There's certain ones they should have but holy cow - not like that I hate to say this but your vet misled you one what is necessary and what isn't and should never have done that to your little puppy I really hope he's going to be ok - but I'd watch him very carefully all night -

| Wow, I feel so bad for you and your baby!! Definitely find a different vet that has more knowledge of toy breeds!! I'll be hoping your baby is better tomorrow. Hugs.

| Thank you all for your support. I appreciate it. We won't be giving him more vaccines, even the boosters here in 3 weeks. He will only receive the rabies shot. He is doing better today. Mom stayed up with him. He poopied last night :-) and mom said he ate a lot of kibble. She said he started roaming around the living room to pee so she enclosed his pen so he would pee on the peepee pads. I think he'll be fine in a few days. We gave him asprin yesterday and last night and I think that really helped him. He's limping today but at least he's more comfortable to walk if he needs to. Again, thank you guys for your support. I really appreciate it.

| I just wanted to take a moment to tell you to stop blaming yourself! I know it's easier said than done, but try. We all make mistakes while trying to be good yorkie owners. All of us! Thanks to this thread, maybe someone else will be helped. I'm sorry! Give that baby a belly rub for me.

| Poor little thing! The benedryl will make him sleepy anyway but the vet should know better than to give more than one vaccine in a single visit - time to find a new vet maybe! I hope he's running and playing again soon

| Thanks Red98Vett. Bentley is doing much better today. He drank a little bit and is walking around. He doesn't scream when we pick him up. To be safe we are picking him up under his chest and not moving quickly to prevent pulling or movement in his limbs. He is now enjoying laying on mom again and has interest in food as well as sweet grass we bought for my cat. :-) I'm so happy he's recovering! ::Huge sigh of relief:: Thank you everyone for being so concerned and helpful. I can't tell you what it meant to me last night. HUGS Brittany and Bentley
