| Greetings all, Jodi/sammy's Mommy Just letting you all know there is a Valley Fever specialist at the UofA veterinary school in Tucson. I have read of other animals who he has helped, and he is recommending the same treatment you described...Diflucan (5-6 mg per pound of pet) and sterioids as well. I am having my baby tested next week, but wondered how much all those tests cost? Do we JUST do the blood test? Are the Xrays better because they have instant results? Do we do both? What is the cost? I am actually considering ordering the meds online and foregoing the vet bills. Feedback? |

| Hi Jody welcome!! So sorry about your little one getting the dreaded AZ Valley Fever. My 8 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback had it a few years back. She had coughing fits, which soon, within a week went to lameness in her hind leg. (She apparently had VF for quite awhile without any signs or symptoms) The vet put her on meds and had to take the antifungal drug for about 8 months. This was pretty expensive, I for the life of me cannot remember the drug she was put on. She was also on pain medication for a month until her lameness went away. SHe was symptom free for 6 of the 8 month treatment, but she has been fine since!!! Good luck!!! Keep up with the treatment set by the vet or she could relapse!!!
