Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Check her gums - make sure they're pink, not white. If white, she's dehydrated - get her to drink w/ some karo or honey in the water. Make sure her cheeks aren't swollen - if they are, she could be having a reaction. This late after the shot though, I doubt it. Rabies is a pretty tough shot - so she probably could be worn out from it nonetheless. Give her something "carby" like a bit of cereal, cracker, or even yorgurt - a little food boost and water would be good. Once you reply and I know you've seen this - I'll move it to Health.

| Zoe was like that and also very lethargic after her shots. They gave both rabies and the regular boosters at the same time and I will never do that again. But they did tell me that if she had a reaction, I could give her 1/2 of a baby aspirin and it did help. |

| Is Abby the pup that wouldn't eat much when she was younger and showed symptoms of liver problems? Did you ever get her bile acid tested just in case? Shaking doesn't sound like an extreme reaction but again I'd wonder why it is hapening...

Madison just had his rabies shot yesterday too.....he got the combo DHPP a week ago along with Bordatella. I'm glad I split them up a little bit at least. He seemed really tired after the first set of shots for 3-4 days....not anything terrible or scary, but I could tell he just wasn't quite himself. After the rabies shot yesterday, he had absolutely no problem. What is the baby aspirin supposed to do if they have a reaction? Is it just for discomfort or as an antipyretic? Or does it help in some other way? I'm hoping that the second set (same as the first ones) won't affect him as much.

| My puppy died at 5.5 months old after the rabies shot on the next day. I trusted my vet completely but he did kill my little baby. Whatever that vet was saying to me that he did everything right had made no effect to me. I can not forgive him and will never do. That was a real grief for me and my wife. Now we have another baby who is lighting up my life with her cheerful plays and endless energy. Nowadays I'm very careful in giving my yorkie any vaccine. If there is no law I would not give any rabie shot to her at all. As I heard that vets use the same dosage of Rabies shots for Labradors as Yorkies. That is a Big Mistake and on my example can be fatal for our babies. |

| That vet did spay my girl that day.Microchiped her. Made two shots at the same time (rabies and Lyme) and my poor baby could not get over all of that after all and died next day. She was full of energy, playfull and absolutely healthy puppy before that.Up to now I have been blaming myself for letting the vet do all of that at the same time. That is my mistake. Now if any vet tells me that my Tina needs to be vaccinated I remember my breeder said to me on selling the new puppy:"no more vaccination up to 1.5 year old" and that is exactly I'm going to follow. I just want everybody to know that most vets just make their dirty money on us at the expense of our pet's health. They want to vaccinate our babies as much as possible against everything which your puppy never meets. Please, do not allow them to do so!!!!! Many of them just have no idea how to treat toy breed dogs what Yorkies are. They have the same attitude to Rotweiler as well as Yorkie and give the same doze of vaccine to both of them. I'm, personally, not against vaccination at all.It is very important in our babies future health, BUT........you have to be very careful with vaccinations. Try to ask your vet if the vaccine doze is given according to your babie's weight, especially Rabies. Now I know this on my personal sad experience.AND NEVER allow the vet to vaccinate my baby with something we never meet. Yorkies are mostly indoor pets... Thank you for your warm words about my loss.... |
