| My Dog Is a Poop Factory! I feed Chewie 3 times a day. He's just about 4mo. old now. 7:00am, Noon, 6:00pm... He gets a little less than 1/4 cup of dry food. That's it. He poops about 5-7 times a day. I'm not talking little poops either. I seriously don't understand how he could go that much. I'm trying to paper train him snd it'd like everytime I turn my back he's pooping again...in the wrong place. I'm not sure how much more my carpet can take. Please help....

| I don't think a dog should go more than about three times a day and a pup maybe four times. There are a few exceptions but I'd wonder if something is wrong. What food is it? Is it full of fillers? Have you tried something like Canidae or Natural Balance?

| I was having poop issues too. I switched to Chicken Soup and it is much improved. Baxter will be 5 months next week and now goes at 5:30 am, 5:30 pm and around 10:00 pm. I anticipate the 10 disappearing as he gets older. I am still giving him plain old milkbone treats once in the evening because he really loves them. He is a free feeder and eats when he gets ready. Good luck. My Pomeranian that we had for 13 years ate plain old Purina One and only pooped once a day. Hopefully Baxter will get there as he gets older. |

| Gas and excessive pooping As I scrolled down and then saw this posting of yours, I wasn't in the least surprised. You had better get your puppy on something besides Kibble. You had better start feeding him something he can digest. He IS A PUPPY AND SENSITIVE TUMMIES ARE RAMPANT. Once again, I, and many others are TELLING YOU WHAT IS WRONG but I don't think you are listening. When you REALLY want some suggestions on how to feed you pup, ask someone here...and then listen, ok?? [COLOR="Red"][COLOR="Black"] It should be very obvious, even to the most casual observer and non savvy animal person that something is very wrong. I hope you do something FOR YOU SWEET PUPPY cause he needs serious help from you. Pooping as he is is downright WRONG and very unhealthy for Bently. I will say no more until you think you want to listen, ok?? You are now dealing with an already serious issue--your puppy is TELLING YOU THAT HE IS NOT DIGESTING ANYTHING YOU ARE GIVING HIM...AND you still persist??? This makes me sad. I hope you educate youself and learn about feeding your little puppy. YorkieSue |

| My yorkie is 55 days in to her pregnancy and she used to go 1-2 times a day now I am having trouble getting her to go even one time a day. I switched her from yorkie 28 to eukenuba puppy food for small dogs, I am adding a little of both and today for the first time I gave her cottage cheese, and she is drinking water okay. I gently squeezed her anal sac I don't know wether to be worried. I took her for a walk oustside to try and help. I have noticed her activity has slowed down greatly. her temperature stays around 99.7 and it was only 100 at the vet for the last few times I had her there. I am really concerned about her. |

| I saw you posted about having some problems with gas too. I'm thinking that the gas and the excessive poo are probably stemming from the same problem. If I were you, I would think about switching foods and see if it helps. Just make sure you read labels so that the new food doesn't contain the same ingredients. Good luck!

| When do you consider a yorkie as being an adult or out of the puppy stage? Chewie was born 1/13/08 so he's right at about 4mo old. Am I feeding him too much for his age maybe? The serving size on the food bag says 1/4cup which is what he gets 3 times a day. If I do 2 times a day he seems like he's starving to death. He's probably about 2 1/2 pounds. I'll be transitioning him over to Canidae. I've done quite a bit of research on it and it seems fantastic. Hopefully this food will be the answer to shutting down this constant "poop factory"...heehee

| An apology First of all, to the group as a whole (since I have no idea where else to post this apology) I sincerely apologize for coming on so strongly in my post about feeding and excessive pooping. I sounded like a Dutch Uncle when I said "educate yourself"etc. I am genuinely sorry to ANYONE I OFFENDED...I was in a bad space with my own Yorkie on the day I responded to that posting and I was out of line with my attitude. I hope the group forgives me as I am NOT a 'know it all" (although from that posting I know you were fooled)and want only the best for everyone's dog. I have been thru dog-health-fear-hell with two of my dogs and now SEEM to be on the right track with them. Of course, when all the suggestions and my reseach for them worked pretty well I because adamant that it might work for everyone. Anyway, to whomever I might have offended, I genuinely apologize. Second of all, I have a real and true interest in helping anyone who needs it IF I CAN. I have walked the walk in certain areas and if my experiences, strengths and methods can be of help to anyone, then I would love that. That's it on this topic. YorkieSue |

| My pookie is 5 months old. He was on kibble and meat baby food for the longest time (that was all I could get him to eat). Then I switched the baby food to Natures Variety mix it with a little bit of kibble. He eats twice a day, kibble is down all day, but he's not a grazer. He poops about 30 to 45 minutes after his meals. He loves eating raw.

| Feeding real food cuts down on the times they poop. Dog food has a lot of fillers. |
