| not drinking enough water after neuter?? hey there, i feel like Kash isn't drinking enough water since he got neutered... there are no obvious health signs, but i just don't see him drinking it. he's been with me constantly since i picked him up from the vet on Thursday afternoon, and it's Saturday morning, and he won't really drink water. he'll eat both dry and canned food just fine, but not water. i put him in front of the water bowl, and shake it a little to get the water moving so he'll see what it is, but he just walks away. i feel like i should force feed him water with a syringe, but i don't want to put him through anything that's not absolutely necessary. what should i do? wait a couple more days and see if he starts drinking on his own, and if he doesn't, force feed him? or take him back to the vet to see if he's dehydrated... what signs should i look for if he does become dehydrated? as i said at the beginning, he's acting very normal. thanks!

| I know on cats if you scrunch their back and it stays scrunched, they are dehydrated. Dogs I don't know. But I wouldn't worry about Kash if he acting normal. He may be still be working out the iv fluids from his surgery. Is he peeing and pooping okay?

| I've added a bit of low salt organic broth to the water to make it more enticing. Also try stirring in a little water into the canned food so that he gets some extra water without noticing. Hope this helps. |

| You can add water to the food. It's important to keep him hydrated.
