| How much to feed? Hi, I am a new yorkie mom--my baby "Dash" is almost 4 years old--he's a rescue----am wondering what to feed him and how much. He was a little street dog--so he'll eat until he pops! My vet says that yorkies weigh between 5 and 7 --ok------all yorkies? How goofy is that? My boy is fine boned and I can easily feel all of his little ribs-----not like my chihuahua--who is built like a tick--big body--little head! Any help would be greatly appreciated-- |

| Not all yorkies. I have a healthy 10 pounder. She is 1 and a half. She is not overweight. |

| Congratulations on your new baby Whatever you decide to feed him, it should say how much he's to eat on the side of the bag. All the best to you and Dash.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The amount will probably depend on the brand you are using. Nutro says.. 1/3to 1 cup per day for a moderately active 5 - 15 pound dog.

| Hi, Welcome to YT!! The standard for yorkies is 4-7 pounds. How much does Dash weigh right now? Does he need to put weight on? What are you feeding? My Bubba is 4 1/2 pounds, he eats almost 1/4 cup of Innova every day & a baby carrot or 2 and maybe a small treat. Roxy who is 3 1/4 pounds eats almost as much, but she is a more active dog. They are both 6 yrs old. Following the directions on your dog food pkg is a good place to start. Then take into consideration what extras you're going to feed each day. You'll have to sign Dash up for our Little Gentleman's Club, you can do so on this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...come-join.html

| Some excellent brands: Innova, Artemis, Wellness, Chicken Soup - which you will find online or at a high quality pet supply store. These brands are not carried at Petco or Petsmart. Petco is now carrying Solid Gold, and that is a pretty high quality food you can learn about a lot of different brands & compare ingredients at Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble A 4 or 5 star food would be best. Some yorkie owners do use EVO which is a 6 star food, but a lot people think the 6 star foods are too high in protein for yorkies. That website is just someone's ratings, but it is a good place to start One of the problems I have with Science Diet is that there are a lot of fillers in it Also, my dogs are not real thick, they are smaller bones, so I don't want to overfeed them. A lot of the pet food companies will send you samples of their food. You can just email them with your address & they will send it to your door. You can find a sticky at the top of this section with links to a lot of the company's websites, or contact info
