Im so sorry for your family's loss. RIP Little Diamond. Im not expert but maybe she went into shock or had a hypoglycemic attack. I hope you get an answer from your vet. I will have your family in my prayers.

Hi again...the more I thought about this poor baby the more I tend to think it could have been the water - were you shooting it directly into her mouth ? I don't want you more upset than you already are.....but I have a girl who LOVES the hose - she is her happiest playing... but I never shoot it into her face - I'm very careful to aim the hose around her - not on her.

I wonder if that was just way too much water for a little yorkie ? If you do decide to get another dog....I wouldn't do this anymore - PLAYING in the water is fine but try not to let her drink too much of it - People can actually OD from drinking too much water - it wouldn't take much for a yorkie to become sick. I'm very sorry that you lost your yorkie...It's a tragedy no matter what happened.

I'm sorry about the loss of your yorkie. But I'm also concerend that anyone would allow a 3 year old to squirt a small dog in the face with water and "playfully hit" a small dog. I just can't imagine it. She possibly died by drowning or pneumonia caused by fluid in her lungs. I aplogize to anyone whom thinks it rude of me but I do wonder if this is for real. The person has 1 post and I must admit the thought has passed thru my mind if it's bait and written for attention or reactions. Regardless, It's very upsetting and sad.

WOW,,, I'll try and be very careful with my words. Maybe he posted it to warn people of what can happen or just looking for a reason why this happened on the net and happened to come across this really cool and really informative site. Real or not this can happen. Regardless this a very sad story so sorry for your loss. Lesson learned. Too much water can harm your babies. Gus loves to swim. And one day I was skimming the pool and went to step on the first step to cool my feet off and Gus was in my way and I accidently kickd him in the pool. I got him out very quickly and noticed that he got water up his nose because he was sneezing and you can hear the difference in his breathing. After a while he was able to get it out and he was just fine. He still loves to swim we have to make sure he doesnt jump in and if he wants to go in we pick him up and place him in or hold him. He loves hanging out with me on the raft. Soundss to me that this little girl died because of what she loved doing,,,,, playing and having fun with her family. Her little body couldn't handle all that water. Again,,,,,,,,,,, so sorry. RIP little Diamond. Accidents happen. Don't beat yourself up for it. I for one have blamed myself for Gus's accident and although he's just fine I think to myself if only we did things differently it would have never happened. Accidnets happen,,,,,,

I totally agree and I do try and be careful with my words as well. I just was taken aback with the way in which this little yorkie was "played" with. I truly upset me. I'm very sorry for the loss. I also know from having been on forums for a very long time that ever so often a visitor will join in on a forum with something like this to get people "upset" Hopefully that isn't the case. Wasn't there something similar to this on here recently?

Sorry , Yorkies are delicate and get hypoglycemic from over exercising . Give your vet a call.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my 6 1/2 year old to acute pancreatitus. I mean nothing by this but I would never let my babies play in water from a hose...Their little lungs and body parts are extremely small and fragile.

It is a picture of the paperwork filled out when he dropped his dog off to have her cremated by the Humane Society. If you click on the right hand corner you can make it bigger and read that it is about his poor little yorkie.

I too am no vet, but once when I was rinsing Maggie's hair, she threw her head back. The spray nozzle sprayed right up her nose. She coughed, gagged, sneeze and harfed for a couple of hours. Your baby might have gotten way too much water up it's nose.
