Donating YT 30K Club Member | Questions regarding Atopica I just got back from the vet with Cali as she has been scratching severely and has little bumps under the skin. She has infected follicles and is on meds to clear it up for 2 weeks. I asked the vet about putting her on Atopica based on people on here that have had good results with it and she is checking into and problems with Cali and her liver and the price. She said it is very expensive, but I don't care if it works. For anyome using it or has used it. how soon did you see results? Any side effects? About how much was a month's worth of it? Thanks

| I use it for my westie. I seen results in about a week. I actually use the generic of Atopica and it is $90 for two months. The actual Atopica was going to cost that for one month. The generic works well for Turbo and have seen amazing results. Of course it will not cost you as much as I'm sure your baby weights quite a bit less than my 22lb cow Turbo. BOL!!!

| Atopica I had Doogan on Atopica for 3 months and was not happy with the results. The drug only comes in either a 10 or 25 milligram dosage and based on Doogans weight (6.5 lbs) he would need a dosage right in the middle, so the 10 was not enough and the 25 was too much (the pills are liquid sealed inside a round seamless shell) We tried several different ways of dosing him but could not get to the proper and safest dosage and I was concerned with any long term effects the slightest overdosing would have. If you are going to try Atopica, your Vet will do a complete blood count before starting and again after 30 days to make sure all of the values are the same. It took the full 30 days before I noticed any improvement in Doogans itching and even after the 3 months he never was symptom free from scratching ( I would say 50% better). He also had several bouts of vomiting while on the drug as well and Doogan had never had any gastrointestinal problems before starting Atopica. The cost of Atopica can be shocking ($5 cdn for a 10 milligram pill), but if you have insurance it is covered(which we did, thankfully) I hope I answered any questions you had about the Drug but if you need more, please let me know.
