| Extra Gassy? I haven't changed food or anything but Bentley seems to be extra, extra gassy lately. I swear, I walk into the living room where he usually is & I smell one of his little 'gifts'. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't think it's cause for worry, necessarily, but it definitely indicates that something is irritating his little system. Just like with us, gas is so darn uncomfortable. Whatcha feeding? It's likely caused by diet - and simple changes could do the trick.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That's a nice food. Dry or canned? Not that it matters a ton - but there is a bit of difference. Any treats that you're giving, new/recently? Has he been on the Merricks a while? Depending on those things - I mean, you could try to move to a food with less ingredients. You could browse around some of the 5-star canned foods here and see what I mean (the 6-star canned are mostly single-sourced): http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/

| It's dry but he gets the wet once a week ususally. He LOVES Old Mother Hubbard Extra Tasty Biscuits & he has about 1-2 per day. He likes his Merrick but I'll definitely look into other foods if it'll help. Is canned better for him? He eats twice a day usually.

| Ya know, I have been feeding Merricks Wilderness Blend too without any problems for 6 months or so...But the last few weeks, A.J has had terrible gas too! It's like just all of a sudden, the food is bothering him?

| Yeah, that's what I noticed too! The gas has just been these past few weeks, like 2-3. I tried doing some online research but didn't get anything..

| Have you bought a new bag recently? I just opened a bag on the 1st. I'm wondering if there's something different in it.

| Well, that's interesting! I just sent Merrick's customer service an email, we'll see what they say.

| Hmm..I think I killed this thread almost a month ago, but I'm going to go ahead and update it just for my peace of mind I received this reply from Merrick's customer service yesterday: Thank you for your inquiry. We have not changed our formula for Puppy Plate. Unfortunately, gas can be caused by a number of different factors. Since it's difficult to determine exactly what is causing the problem, I would be happy to send you a coupon for a new bag. Perhaps you could throw away the bag in question, and hopefully you'll have better results with the new bag. Please reply with your mailing address and I'll get you a coupon sent out ASAP.
