| Only One Testicle?!?! Sorry for the weird title, but I have a real concern, and I hoped I could attract some attention by just getting straight to the point. I am very interested in buying a little yorkie boy within the next week or so, and his breeder was telling me about him while I was looking at his picture online. I think he is gorgeous, and I am already planning on going to the breeder's house to look at him before I buy him, but there is one little thing wrong with him that the breeder mentioned to me: he only has one testicle. Now I am planning on getting him neutered anyways, but I have never heard of a puppy only having one testicle. Is that an ok thing??? I mean, he is only 14 weeks old as of right now, so I guess he is still young. I wanted to make sure that this isn't a sign that I am in for a lot of vet visits and possibly a broken heart. The breeder assures me that he is completely healthy, but I know that breeders sometimes tell you anything to get a sale, so I wanted to bring this to you alls attention and see what everyone had to say about this topic. Should I buy this gorgeous little boy, or should I keep looking? |

| I had a Yorki who had only one testicle, I got him when he was five years old... I took him to the vet, as he hadn't been neutered, he actually had two, only the other never decended. So, they took it out when he was neutered. If you leave it in, it could be a souce for cancer. Talk to the VEt, but I wouldnt think it shoud be a problem as long as you wern't breeding him. (He is still fertile with just one) Hope this helps. |

| Since he is only 14 weeks old there is still time for the other testicle to drop. Since you are having him neutered anyway it should not matter. Vets do charge a little more money to neuter a male with one testicle because the other testicle is there but is undecended and it will require a extra incision to remove it. |

| He is still young the other could drop still, but if your going to have him neutered anyway there shouldn't be a problem, the concern would be if you were breeding. You should be fine

| Great!! Thank you very much!!! Well I think I found a great dog....I just need to go and pick him up now!!! I have another question.....when you all were saying that it might cost more to get him neutered because they have to go up and get the other one to remove it......well how much do neuterings cost on average?? And about how much more will it cost to get him neutered since he has an undesended testicle??? I know there are no fixed cost for anything in this world, but does anyone know about how much it might cost.....or even how much you paid for you baby's neutering/spaying? |

| Vet costs are very different through out the US. I would call and see at a few different vets. I use a clinic here. I had Max neutered and 9 teeth pulled and it was a total of $75. He is 3.15 pounds and he did wonderful! Don't be bashful. Call and get different prices.

| my Gizmo only has one testicle.. the other did not descend, but I took him to the vet and he said it should not bother him at all... unless I was planning on breeding him.. (which I am NOT).... so he gets yearly check ups to make sure he is ok.. I have not neutered him because he is so little and I am too scared to lose him under... |

| I think we paid $150 to neuter a male with both testicles descended. Teeth are usually $300 plus. Costs are out of this world in California.

| I met a dog that had no testicles at all.... A friend of my friend has a mini poodle that has no testicles... well , that is what we tought , but he has them , just not droped out... the recomended to neuter him anyways to avoid the development of any cancer or anything like that. Vets also told it is something common, it is called "undescendent" testicles or close to that , and as long as they get fixed there is no concern on it... i also found it very odd... but hey .... i do not know that many dogs , it was the first one i ever herad of it as well... but i guess it is quite common.

| My little chihuahua boy had undescended testicles. I got him at 16 weeks old and the vet told me that they might still descend if I massaged them down!! I massaged that little boy for a few weeks, to no avail!! But he loved the massages, typical boy!! I had him neutered and I think it cost me about $250. He has not had any health problems or anything associated with it. Good luck with your new boy!!

| I had a boxer who had this problem. We never had no intentions of breeding him, but the breeder never made us aware of the problem in the first place. But when we realized he was gonna have to be neutered, my hubby called the breeder to ask for some money back. Well the breeder was having none of it, but my hubby is very persistent he told the breeder it was like buying a car with no wheels. LOL. We eventually got back £100. So am thinking tha maybe the breeder will give you a few bucks off maybe to cover the cost of the OP.

| A puppy with one testicle is not a huge thing. It happens all the time. I don't think it hereditary or anything like that, and it of course does not affect the quality of the pet. I'm sure he will be a great companion! I can't wait to see pictures when you bring him home!!
