Has anyone ever ordered from them? I might just wait until we go home. We raise cattle, and I think dad has one up to take to the butcher here soon. Just wanted to check this site. It's like $24 for 4 lbs.
wow is that the average price or is it a bit overprice? i dunno since i have never bought these bones before...hehe

if you have holistic pet stores in your area that sell raw food you might be able to find frozen marrow bones there, like the primal variety.

Great thread ! But I got totally confused. Do you remove the marrow or leave it in ? Is it good or bad for our babies?

Please, help me to understand.
Thank you.

You remove the marrow, because it's too high in fat and protein for our little ones.

Default marrow bones

Hi List
Have been very busy lately and have not posted for a bit but finally have some free time and have to tell you I tried the marrow bones.......frozen for my cattle dogs and yorkies...........never saw any difference in their teeth but it kept them busy for hours......in fact the cattle dogs teeth started to get worn down from chewing on these bones so I don't do that anymore .......I started home cooking for my guys and whatever is in there is helping the plaque........all the brown stain is off and their teeth are the best I ever saw......no more dentals at the vet.........this recipe is not good if you have any health issues with your dogs but you could perhaps modify it to suit your needs.......I will add it to the end of my email and any questions.......just ask away and I will try to answer.......I am pleased and so glad for me and my dogs......especially my senior citizen Ozzie......

HOME MADE FOOD RECIPE

1 large beef heart
2 pkgs of beef kidney
1 bottle of minced garlic
6 or 7 tums crushed for calcium
2 kg of brown rice
10 lbs carrots
3 bags of parsnips
1 medium turnip
Dr. Goodpet Golden Age Formula vitamins and minerals bought at Walmart pet section, use about 3 tablespoons
A very large pot

Optional...large bag of frozen vegetables but no corn...boil and mash
flax seed
bee pollen
wheat germ
2 sweet potatoes......boil and mash
Cooking instructions

Boil the heart and kidneys for about one hour.........keep the liquid
Using a food processor put the carrots and parsnips with peelings through the shredder and peel the turnip and put it through the procressor.
take the heart and kidney out of the liquid and add the carrots and parsnips and turnip and all other ingredients to the liquid in the pot
Take the heart and kidney and put them through the processor and add to the veg in the pot.....you may have to add a bit more liquid........simmer for about an hour.......let cool and put in bags and freeze.......we get about 16 medium bags and so far have lasted us a month feeding 4 dogs plus the odd 2 or 3 more depending on who I am boarding at the time......

If you use the frozen bag of vegetables also you boil it in the liquid first and mash it up and add the other ingredients......

I have had great success with this and have nice healthy gums, clean teeth and little stool.....but I fed one yorkie this food only and his teeth became clean faster then the others........with the others I was adding about 10 pieces of their dog food and adding the cooked on top.........I am now feeding only home made to my yorkies and am so very pleased.....I need to thank my two good friends Dianne and Clara for introducing me to this food recipe.....I hope you all have success and please let the list know how your dogs are doing and check their teeth now and keep checking.......with mine it was less then one month and I saw a 90 percent improvement.......good luck

great thread. i have a question. how long do you freeze the bone before you give it to your furbutt? also this may be dumb, but how long do you let it defrost before giving them the bone?

I freeze it for 24 hours. When I take it out it actually defrosts really quick because its just a bone.

Question Why Does My Sammy Turn Into A Beast With The Marrow Bones

Why Does Ammy Turn Into A Nightmare With The Marrow Bones . I Went To The Butcher Today Nd He Was So Nice He Gave Me 4 Marrow Bones From The Femur.i Took Out The Marrow And Gave Sammy One. Omg , What A Nightmare , You Could Not Go Near Him And He Was Very Nasty With Our 4 Cats Who Also Wanted A Piece Of The Action. Is It Possible To Give Cats A Marrow Bones Without The Marrow In It?
He Is So Possessed, Nothing Distracts Him At All.
Do These Bones Splinter, I Am Afraid They Will.
Thanks

you really need to be careful if your dog is becoming aggressive and possessive with these bones. You should be able to give it to them and take it away from them at all times. Hold it in your hands while he chews and don't let him take it from you until you are ready to give it to him. Then take it away 2 seconds later. Keep doing this until you can take it away from him after any length of time. if he continues to be aggressive then do not give it to him anymore. you do not want that kind of behavior.
