| Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Due to Baby Blessing gaining weight I decided to put her on the Nutro Natural Choice for overweight dogs, but oh my gosh, right away she got so sick on it so I changed her back to the original Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites and she is doing fine now. I wondered if anyone else had this happen? She started gaining around the middle after her spay and now has earned the nik of being called our little butter ball what do you all do to keep your babies trimmer. I worry about her weight gain, each are fed seperately so I know she isn't getting the others food. She is showing the weight gain in her breathing heavier and can tell she isn't happy with being heavier, and we aren't either cause we worry that this could cause her health issues, JUST LIKE IT WOULD OURSELVES IF WE WERE OVER WEIGHT TOO. Appeciate others input on this, thank you. Patti and Jack Last edited by Baby Blessing; 03-31-2008 at 10:00 AM. |

| Nutro has made a lot of dogs very sick. How about switching to something like Natural Balance reduced fat or Canidae reduced fat or use a food that you like and feed less but add green beans to bulk it up?

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | Poor Baby. Pixie is a bit ok more than a bit overweight, I have started cutting back on her food just a little and fewer treats. I know she needs to exercise but out weather isn't cooperating. It is so hard to getthem to lose weight. With Roxie I am making sure I don't overfeed her right from the start.

Thanks Ellie May, gotta do something, never encountered this before . I also will be glad when the weather settles so I can start taking her for long walks will be good for not only her but me too excercise is important. Patti, I have cut back on her treats too and her food intake but it hasn't helped, thanks for your posting too. Have a nice day, Patti and Jack Last edited by Baby Blessing; 03-31-2008 at 11:31 AM. | |

| Gee, I would think that cutting back on the food and treats would work - just like for humans. Yep, exercise will help, too.I'm also waiting for the decent weather for more walks. |

| Penelope is also overweight for the first time in her life and it happened immediately after her spay. Our vet told us that her body needed a little time to regulate and then we could begin adjusting her food. We also realize that she requires more exercise, but since our weather ( and my health) have not cooperated we thought we would try to hire Tumi as her personal trainer. Has anyone seen her work out on her treadmill? That girl is amazing ..... ! I can see it now... our own version of THE BIGGEST LOSER ... Yorkie style. |

| We switched to Wellness Weight MGt and my little one lost 2.5 lbs in about 3/4 mos. She was 8 lbs and needed to get back at 5-5.5. right now she is 6.4. It was really easy getting her to lose weight by switching to the wellness wgt mgt. It has 6 % fat and 8% fiber. after she loses a little more I am looking into feeding a raw diet. you can check out the wellness website at www.wellnesspetfood.com |
