| Bad ingredients? Ok so I have been looking at the labels for treats to see the ingredients, and it seems like a lot of them have both onion powder and garlic in them...which I thought was bad for dogs? Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is?

| Garlic should be good for dogs - it is for people. I'm not sure about onion. I know that garlic is added to some dogs' food for mosquitoes and stuff. Old home remedy for worms too. I can't imagine getting mine to actually eat it though. |

| I copied this from the following link: http://www.petalia.com.au/Templates/...s&story_no=257 Onion and garlic poisoning Top Onions and garlic are other dangerous food ingredients that cause sickness in dogs, cats and also livestock. Onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient thiosulphate. Onions are more of a danger. Hope this helps. This site has some great info about other foods that are toxic. |

| See, that is what I thought, so it makes no sense to me why companies would put that in dog treats...?

| Garlic and onion are flavor enhancers. They can use cheaper ingredients, both quality and cost wise have a product that the dogs will yummy. It is a matter of economics. The cheaper the companies can produce a tasty treat, the more $$ profit they will make. |
