This isn't even close to a sufficient answer but here's what my dogs had for dinner and breakfast yesterday: Soild Gold Just a Wee Bit kibble in the morning Azmira canned food mixed with Seapet Cod Liver Oil, Dogzymes Cushings Crusher (for Bun's addisson's), Solid Gold Sea Meal, plus, as supplements Bun gets Creatine in the form of Crecarb and Glucosamine in the form of Cosequin. Here's a recent post of mine on the topic (but please do search the older ones where I discuss rotation and nutrition): http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11819 Last edited by yorkipower; 07-26-2005 at 07:38 AM.

| We use RC for our Gracie. She was feed Eukanuba at from the person we got her from. When we were weaning her off it it, she kept picking it out of the Eukanuba. She seemed to like it better. We have just finished our first bag of it. She likes it and she is eating it. Our Gracie is 3.1 lbs. She was 2.5lbs when we got her. We have had her 6 months now and she just turned a year old on July 25. We have not had any problems with it so far. We also feed her Max soft food. There are no biproducts in it. Heather |

| I have feed my Yorkie ever possible food. He is so picky and my little girl is not. He did like the holistic dog food from trader joe's, but I think I am going bacK to Innova. I have heard other yorkie breeders rave about royal canine, but reading the label I wasn't impressed. My female yorkie does need some help with her coat. It is REALLY thin. At this point I just need to get my lil guy to eat. The vet said he is a lil' under weight, his ideal weight should be 6lbs, he is at 5lbs. My female eats EVERYTHING and ANYTHING |

If you pick a food with none of the above mentioned ingredients, you can't go wrong. Good Luck!

| I posted on this on another thread also and almost hate to say anything because I cannot recall WHY. But i posted that the breeders at a show I was at said the RC Yorkshire was a killer(not my words). These breeders do like and feed RC mini. however. It scared me enough that I feed neither now. |

| Royal Canin is VERY HIGH in protein.. and 33 % is way too much for yorkies-- they will get liver burn 0ut. There have been other posts on this.. Percent of protien should not be over 26% for any period of time. This information came about from reserach done on yorkies by breeders who have been breeding over a 30 year span.

| i never know which is really the best for your puppy. everyone always says something different. Pudgy really seems to like the royal canine dry food and the eukanuba wet food mixed together. Since eating it though has definately beefed up! Maybe thats a hint! who knows....

| I'm in the process of switching Olivia from RC to Natural Balance. She's always liked the RC, but went nuts over the NB the first time she ate it! I uesd it for a day or two as treats for her. I also notice a lot of itching with the RC. Natural Balance was highly recommended by a few members here on one post. It's only sold at Petco, not Petsmart (in my area anyway) and unfortunatly we don't have a Petco anywhere close to me. I had to drive nealry an hour to get it but it was well worth it because she loves it! |

| Royal Canine vs Innova I switched from Royal Canine Puppy food to Innova puppy food and my Lexy likes it. I was told by a pet shop owner that Innova was a much better food than the Royal Canine. I have a Cocker Spaniel she has always been on Innova and I should of realized that I should of just use that on Lexy. I though I was doing a good thing because I went on the Internet and asked what was a good dog food for small breeds and that came up. I have had no problems with Innova infact it is so good for their coat. My cocker spaniels hair shines and so does Lexys. I would try the Innova for puppies. |
