| dog food I currently feed my yorkie mostly wet food. She does have dry food out but, she doesn't really eat it. She may take a piece here and there but, won't eat it as a meal. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get her to eat dry food only. We just started feeding her ProPlan wet food and we have been giving her Beneful puppy dry food. She seems to be really picky, we recently changed her wet food from science diet to ProPlan because she wasn't even eating her wet food. Someone please help me. Thanks. |

| I've tried everything too My Alley is 10 months old and he won't eat dog food at all. I started him on Eukanuba and he later refused to eat it. I switched to Science Diet and he later refused to eat it. I've done dry, wet, combinations, everything! I've tried waiting him out to see if he's just being picky and he has gone as many as 4 days without eating the dogfood. I just can't bear to let him go that long again. So, I am a slave to cooking for him. Yep, you know it! Spoiled rotten!!!

| My breeder fed Lucky Eukanuba and Caesar wet puppy food.. and recommended me to continue that. He didn't even touch the Eukanuba since I brought him home and he seemed to resort to eating the wet food only when he's starving. My neighbor's son owns a pet food company called Artemis, and he formulated his food to be fresh and all that good stuff. He told me to stay away from Eukanuba and gave me a free bag of his puppy food. Seems like Lucky loves eating now. I was afraid the sudden change in diet would upset his stomach but it didn't. I don't even feed it the wet food anymore because I'm afraid it contains too many by products.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | My vet says any time you change foods, you should do it slowly. Start off with 90 percent of the old food and 10 percent of the new, then up the percentage of new by 10 percent or so each week. Eddie has never been on wet food, but we had to switch him from Science Diet (he was throwing up) to Nutro Natural Choice, and that technique worked great.

I know some people that tryed to grind the food to almost a powder so they could get used to the taste.

| Louie suddenly stopped eating his dog food too. I think it was because everyone was sneeking him little bites of our people food and now he is spoiled by it. But after reading about what goes into most dog foods I dont feel guilty about cooking for him and feeding him just the people food. I usually boil chicken for him, and maybe mix it up with some fresh boiled carrots. He really loves this. I just hope that it is good enough. I keep reading and learning more about what foods to make for him though so we'll see. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | When Magic was sick, our vet told us to give her some wet food while she was getting better...well it was good at the time, but now she only wants wet food....so we try and trick her, we cover up her wet food with dry food...somedays she does really good and somedays she doesn't...we never know...but week by week we have lessen the amount of wet she gets to encourage the eating of dry...she seems to be getting better but it has taken some time!!! We feed Nutro Lamb and Rice dry food and both girls seem to just love it....

| Dry food is better Hi! When i first got ruby she was being fed chicken and wet food along with a little dry food. I switch her to dry rightaway because wet food creats more build-up in their teeth and makes them potty more often and their stool of softer consistancy. This might sound mean but. Leave the dry food and as ahe gets hungry she will take it by the end of the day ( depending oh her age to) it might seem like cruel but it will be in your benifit and save your trips to the vet for routine teeth cleaning. Hope this hepls.LOL. |

| Daisy gets a 1/2 cup of Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy Food and she loves it! Sometimes as a treat I will put some cut up apples in it.

update -- I DO NOT USE COUSCOUS -- it is wheat product. I didn't read the ingredient list BEFORE I bought the stuff -- I guess I will use it in a human dish. | |

| Thanks for the responses everyone. When I fed her last night I did mix some dry with the wet and she ate it. So, I am going to try to mix it and slowly give her less and less wet food. We will see how it works. Thanks again |
