| Is it just puppy breath? I know some people don't mind the smell, but I hate puppy breath.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Yeah, some puppy breath is really bad!!! I am not a professionaly by far, but this is what I did. I was told to feed them lamb & rice. I was feeding Nolee chicken & rice. It defintely did help. When changing food, change gradually over 7 days.

| My Yorkie has killer breath, too - almost bad enough to make a person puke! I did discover that he eats poop if he has an accident indoors (to hide it??), but he doesn't eat it outside. So that doesn't help his breath. I started brushing his teeth, and that has helped. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah, there a lot of posts on teething, but if your puppy still has his milk teeth and gets his permanent teeth too, food gets stuck and bacteria will grow in between the two sets. Same thing can happen when he loses a baby tooth, food gets caught it the gums until it's had a chance to heal over. Actually puppy breath is good, if they're not teething. Now's a good time to get them use to tooth brushing. Yorkies are known to have a lot of problems with their teeth.

| Could the vet clean his teeth? I don't know if this will help or not. Tucker has bad breath, but he's teething at 6 months. I brush his teeth everyday, but it smells like a combination of fish and blood. |

They usually don't clean the teeth this early. Not sure where the fish smell comes from, but the blood smell is from teething. Like I said above, baby teeth might need to be pulled if he's not losing them on his own. Make sure he has lots of chew toys and I use PetzLife spray to help ensure good dental hygiene along with brushing.
