| Dry Skin.. Hi I was bathing my pup (7 1/2 weeks) this morning and I was using the flea comb to comb him through after his bath and there was so much dry skin between his eyes and nose area. After I blow dryed him I combed his face hair and combed agian between his eyes and forehead and little flakes were coming up . What can I do for that, its only in that area. Im currently washing him with diluted baby shampoo and I rinse really good. And I dont even wash his face with the shampoo, I just use water to that area. Can I rub baby lotion in that area? |

| my baby has dandruff issues as well.. but i don't know what to do.. i tried using cooler water.. didn't work.. i tried using conditioner.. and that works for like a day.. and i figure it's the weather but i doubt it.. i mean my vet said to give him a bath multiple times a week and make sure to use conditioner.. i don't know if that helps.. but in either case.. it makes my baby's fur really soft and silky!! and he smells like fresh berries too! =D |

| Im just wondering why to that area. It really bothers me because I comb it off and it ends up geting all over his hair then he looks like he has lice. |

| Lexie and Beau both have dry skin. I give them a fatty acid supplement and I rub unscented baby lotion on their bellies (that is where is it most dry). It really helps if you can get past the greasy hair Good luck!! If you want to know what kind of supplement PM me and I'll send you the link.

| no, I just found where the flakes were coming from this morning. I dont want to go into the vet today and pay for a visit when Im going on the 17th for the second set of shots. I was gonna ask around here opinions first. Im thinking maybe allergies because his eyes water and his nose waters. I just switched his food so Im hoping that will help too. I rubbed baby lotion to the area, I hope this is okay? |

| AGREED!! I add a fish oil to their food...and they get a food made from fish. Eagle Pack Hollistic Anchovies, Salmon, and Oatmeal or something like that. Either way, it works GREAT!

| do you use a special dog rationed fish oil capsule or do you just open up a human fish oil capsule and put it on the food? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Please use dog shampoo on your dog, baby shampoo, while gentle, has a different Ph. The wrong Ph can dry out the skin. Always dilute the shampoo before applying. Rinsing your puppy is the most important step in bathing, if not rinsed properly, white flaky skin will appear, especially on the crown. I use a dog conditioner as well, remember when we are bathing our babies we are caring for the skin more than the hair. Again, the baby lotion should be used only on humans, not dogs. Your dog is still so young, it may have something to do with that.
