Does yorkie prefer hot/cold weather? I live in Indonesia where the weather is really hot so we have AC on the house most of the time. I try to put my 10 wks old puppy in the crate at night.. but she always cries so one day I try to have her sleep in my room. I wrapped a blanket around her to keep her warm. She would sleep most of the time, sometimes wake up but didn't disturb me. But I often hear a funny noise like she's sneezing. The next day she fell sick and still sneezes. I asked the breeder and she said maybe my yorkie prone to cold. She suggest to keep her in non AC area. But she always cry if I put her in crate in the living room (no AC)..maybe bcz she feels lonely. But I can't sleep if I dont have my AC on. It's been 10 days she's living with us and Im helpless helppp!

| Welcome, Sacha! Our 17 month old, Toto, prefers warm. However, she also prefers to be with us and we like a cool room to sleep in! We have found that so long as we have warm blankets, etc. for her on our bed, she snuggles in them if she is cold and stretches out on top of them is she gets too warm! We usually just watch Toto for signs of discomfort and in time I am sure you will begin to read signs from your baby to tell is she is too cold/hot. If your baby continues the sneezing and appears to be sick, I would get her checked by the vet to make sure it isn't a cold. Keep us updated ... we love to hear about Yorkie babies!

i agre with bettyanne.......... also, if you are using her crate in your room, you can cover the crate itself loosely ( not with a blanket that it TOO heavy).... and have blankets for her to snuggle iinto inside her crate as well....... ive recently gone through the whole "crate training thing" and now toby prefers his crate now, all i can really say is have persistance...... if you feed her in her crate then she starts to associate her crate with "good things" and wont associate it with being left alone, i was having the same problem as you until i tried the food in the crate and now he loves it..... good luck...... im just curious, did you find a breeder within your area or did you have to "import" your yorkie from somewhere else?

Hello Sacha... Mojo likes the miami-cold weather (which is about 50-60...hehehehe) He loooves to sit in front of fans and have the wind on his face and his hair flying all crazy. But i have noticed that now that his coat is longer, he seems to get "hotter" more often, so maybe when ur puppy grows a little more she won;t mind the ac as much. Also, she probably cries for attention when she is in the crate. Maybe you can get her a sweater??? P.S. Hope everything is ok in ur city and with ur family! Enjoy ur puppy!!!

sacha slept well last nite ... hi again all, I got Sacha from a local breeder. Yorkie is a rare breed in Indonesia so Im glad I found her . There arent many yorkie breeders in here, and when I visited this lady, she has like... 4 female yorkies and other small dogs and I saw that she takes care of them quite well. She taped Sacha's ears so its standing up really nicely . I can also call her whenever I need an advice. She told me some useful tips like.. mixing Sacha's medicines with a bit of honey so she can lick it. She also suggest to replace the puppy food with baby's food mix with 1/4 of mylanta when she has an upset stomach. As for the sleeping problem, last night I tried to play with her from 6-10 PM and by 10 PM she was really tired and fell asleep in her crate quickly so i guess from now on, I'll try to keep her busy and tired until her bedtime

Hmm, if Sacha doesn't like the AC, perhaps she needs some warmth? You can try to get a heating pad for her and leave it in a part of her crate (so she can still move to non heated parts when she wants to).
