| No Rawhide, No Pigs Ears... Then What? Ok, so I've been reading that rawhide is no good for them, and pig ears can be high in fat, so what can I buy (other than toys) that will keep my baby occupied and still satisfy his need to chew, but still be heathly for him at the same time? Is there anything like that on the market?

| I think about the same thing as you do Deegan's Mom. Nylabones seem to help somewhat for Schatzie even though they are not her favorite.

| He's got 2 nylabone's, but they do nothing for him. He might toss them around once in a while, but they don't hold his attention like the rawhide did. And now I feel bad taking away something that gave him so much pleasure, with nothing to replace it with.

| Mine like the gummy type Nylabones.. they are a little softer and more pliable so it's not as hard on their teeth but it's still really strong. I also love this product from Merrick called Texas Toast. It's rawhide but it's shaped into a thick toast shaped thing. Mine love them and they never have chewed off big chunks of it like normal rawhides. I still suggest watching them while they are chewing them though. Pizzle sticks are nasty but the dogs love chewing them too.

| I responded wrong on the previous thread Harley chew's on those hoof's - I guess I was thinking they were pig's and I got confused. He really prefers the black hoofs. He just chew's & chew's. thanks, harley's mom |

| Tino and Bunny like the edible Nylabones- chicken, carrot, eucalytpus. They also chew the non-edible greenies. I posted pics recently of their chewy- its a beef tendon. I saw where Jeffer's Pets sells the kind made by Merrick, so I think I am going to order them a few. I was really against it at first, but it was a gfit from their Auntie Dawn... I didnt like it bc I'm a vegetarian and I hate the thought that this "thing" was lying on my floors, but they went NUTS for it! Here are the pics of the tendon....

| That tendon still cracks me up as much as it grosses me out! Perhaps you can try giving your baby a Kong. Stuff it with peanut butter, stick it in the freezer for a little bit.. Fred LOVES it! |

| Bully sticks are great!! Im not sure of the fat content for Bully sticks, It was recommended by a fellow Yt member, Brooke of imapreciouspup, she also sells bully sticks on her site and they sell them at petsmart and petco. My dogs love them and it keeps them busy for a long time!! it kina smells like pepperoni sticks. They are also much safer than rawhides. A 12 in stick will last my babies about a week or so. |
