Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | ![]() a hunched back can be caused by LPs in both back legs. i fostered a chi that was born with grade 4 LPs and her walked all hunched over all the time until i had her knees fixed. now she has a semi-straight back. not perfect but definately better then what it was before.

| ![]() A roach back is a bit like a cat hunching over..it can be slight or severe.. Morgans is a slight roach, she tends to drop her rump and round it off..which is fine for a pet, IMO...but I think Rylie and Morgan do not have it... |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | ![]() it doesn't effect her in the slightest. i have to get a normal picture of it. its really not that bad. however when her tail is tucked its more pronounced then when the tail is up.

| ![]() Im trying so hard to get a picture of Blaze but everytime I go near him w/the camera he sits down and looks at me! I will have to keep trying. My hubby just thinks he is going through a akward stage. He is still pretty skinny and his legs look long but they really arent. He is only 5 months!

| ![]() A roach back is not a health problem as a rule...it is a structure fault, all dogs have faults. Morgans is very slight and not cat-like roach..just a slight hunch. |

| ![]() It is easier to tell if you dog is roach backed by watching them move at a trot. If the back is humped up in the middle (like a Beddington Terrier) when the dog is moving then it is roached back. A dog with a roach back can be stacked to make the topline look level but it cannot be hidden when the dog is moving. Many yorkies have low tail sets and rounded croups but that is not the same as a roach back. |

| ![]() This is quite true...but I see her top line slightly reminiscent of a BEDLINGTON TERRIER...but it is in the eye of the beholder... |

| ![]() I took Blaze to the vet today and he said that he did not have Roach back. He seems to stand that way when he is nervous but not when he is running and playing.

| ![]() Exactly why is it called roach back.Is the term roach refering to the bug if so that is a disgusting term for such cute fur babies and we need to change it to something else.like cat back or something. Also could that be passed on to their puppies? |

| ![]() Hello all, I have been told that the Yorkie I am to get has a 'severely roached back.' She was described as 'taller than she is long,' because of the roached back. All the posts seem to talk only about mild cases. I am nervous about possible medical problems later on. Can you help me? |
