Mental issue? I have two Yorkies, Daisy and Duke who are brother and sister. They have been crate trained and for the most part are well behaved.... our only issue is Daisy's small but very annoying habit of pacing. She will pace anywhere, anytime, no matter WHAT!!! she wont stop even when we try to pursuade her with treats. Its almost as if she has a mental disorer. She also has other issues like a horrible fear of strangers and noises outside. She also freaks out if we move the location of her crate (whines, barks, poo's even though she is house trained). She has not been abused at all....no one in my family can understand this behavior!!! please help |

I'm don't know if this could be....but could your baby have OCD? Have you talked with your vet. Maybe he could give her some kind of meds. |

i agree. it sounds like OCD. I would have your vet refer you to a behaviorist so you can work on the problem. |

Since you live in Ft. Worth, maybe you can come to our next meet up. I am in Krum and we usually have them in Southlake. |

Just a thought, before you go to a behaviorist, maybe get a second opinion from another vet. |

i would only bring daisy though, not only does she need to socialize with others, my male, Duke, is extremely aggresive with other dogs and i need to work on that before introducing him to a group plus he's my car sick puppy, nothing i do can keep his stomache from getting queesy. thanks for the invite though |

Well I can't understand why you have never heard of Krum...it's about the size of a peanut. We're just outside of Denton. |

I just want to say hi and welcome. Daisy and Duke are the cutest names. I am not much help as to your question but hopefully you can find a solution for your little pacer. Hope to see pics of your furbabies too. |

Chewy will sometimes get into the paceing thing. Mostly when he thinks he sees something or someone out side. (there might be nothing there!) If he can't stop himself I put him in his create with a comfy blanket and soothing talk. I let him stay there for a while and he calms down. |

Where did you get them? Dogs raised in small cages with little human contact can develop certain behaviors like pacing and circling. That along with her extreme fear of strangers and noises makes me wonder if she she came from that type of background. If your vet has ruled out a medical reason for her behavior, I'd consult a behaviorist. |

Cesar Milan had an episode one time about a dog that contantly spun in cirlces..cant remember for the life of me what cured it but I know it started with LOTS of walks to burn off energy...does she go for lots of walks?? That might be a start..welcome to YT btw!! :) Dawn |
