Brookef18..... yes i have tried that but she paces in her crate too!!! she's smaller than her brother and seems to be able to go back and forth anywhere!!! :confused:

Ladymom, we got our pups when they were only 6 weeksold, but soon after we got them i began working 48 hour shifts and it was up to my 10 year old sister (the co-owner of our furballs) to take over the job while i was gone. :( These are her first dogs and she treats them more like dolls she can leave alone for weeks then come back and play with when she's good and ready. (if i could have been there to stop this i would have, unfortunaley things didnt work out like that for about 3 months) This yes could have been the catalyst for Daisy's uneplained behavior!! now that i know what has caused it.....


i would like to thank sweetr72 for suggesting the long walks, the walks are something i have not tried because she gets alot of exercise out side when i get home from school, but a walk would benifit both of us...BUT is it too cold for her to be outside for LONG walks? i have seen yorkie cothes, is it a good idea to put her in those while i walk her? is it nessasary?

Kudos to you for realizing your little furbaby, Daisy, needs some help.:thumbup: You have received several different solutions to try---a typical YT response.:) I have a puppy mill 10 yr. old who circles when she is stressed/excited and is extremely afraid of men. For 9 yrs. my dh has been trying to make friends but she only will go to him if she is afraid and I am not around. Fear rules her life.:(

That's what I was wondering too. Because even Duke has a couple of issues too. We had a Yorkie once that had a bad start to life. She was a pretty severe case, but we tried some of the natural calming agents with her. Might be worth a try for both of them....

My friend had to take her Shih Tzu to a doggy neurologist and a doggy ophthalmologist
(did you even KNOW there were such specialties for dogs?)
because he kept snapping at the air as if trying to catch flies.

Maybe you can find success with a neurologist????

Yup, sure do. Lady goes to a doggie ophthalmologist. :)

She's a diabetic and is prone to eye problems.

Fly snapping episodes are actually focal seizures which is why she took him to a neurologist.

Lady's also epilpetic. :(

Welcome to YT! I am sorry you are having problems with your little one. Someone correct me if I am mistaken ... aren't some of those symptoms also characteristic of liver shunt? I have been on information "overload" lately, but it seems that I read this somewhere?? Hope you can find a solution for your little Daisey! Please keep us updated.

You are absolutely right. Circling/pacing are symptoms of a liver shunt. Good suggestion.

Has Daisy had a bile acids test? Since Yorkies are thirty-six times more likely to have a liver shunt than all other breeds combined, it is recommended that they have a bile acid test before ever going to their new home. Has she ever had one done? If not, you should probably get one done to rule it out.

No i havent had a bile acid test done, but i will look into it. hopefully liver shunt is not the problem, and you said you take your up to a opthamologist,could you give me the number of yours? please!! are they expensive (so i can know how much to save up!!...im only 17!!)

well maybe after i get daisy and duke both more socialized and capable of being around others. i think i'll start out taking htem individually to the stores ou suggested, then bring them together once i know they feel secure in the big world! :rolleyes:

yes i try to go all natural as possible, kinda hard to do it 100%, but calming agents is definately something i dont want to get her hooked on.... is that possible? to get a yorkie addicted to meds?? :( :confused:

I'm going to walk daisy today (we have a very large park in town i'm going to see if she's up for the whole thing!!)

we'll see if that changes anything, if not..

maybe socializing with others besides her brother will help so monday im going to PetSmart!! (and a long walk)

if there is still no change...

liver shunt worries me!!! so that is high on my priority list so that will be the third step, i will then also talk to my vet about the several types of dog specialist you all have suggested!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!

There are so many people here with experience with simple behavior and training issues (and hopefully that's all it is) and there are so many people here with great experience in serious health problems (praying it's nothing that serious for your babies).
