Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It def. would help her ears...but if she did have a system candida overgrowth...there wouldn't be any real point, although it would make her ears more comfortable, temporarily. The overgrowth lives in the intestines (and I think elsewhere to lesser degrees), so that's what you'd ultimately have to treat. For example, humans would have ongoing digestive issues - but may have yeast infections that come and go, no matter what they do - until they treat the whole system.

Roxy get 'crap' on the base of her nails, I don't know how to descibe it, I can scrap it off, but it's like build up She has this Ear Issue She has this Eye Issue Her 'private' does get some build up, but that's probably pee and not washing all the time (my fault) And her Armpits itch her like crazy - I can't cut her nails b/c she scratches her armpits raw. I can't even begin to tell you what we have gone through this past 6 months with her armpits. Man - I want to take her in now, but we are leaving for vaca | |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I didn't mean to freak you out!!! I just did a Yahoo search. Here is a short article, then a "yeast diagnosis check list" - don't know if this helps at all: http://www.greatdanelady.com/article...cklist_htm.htm

| I see what you're saying. I guess I will talk to the vet about it. Ellie's specialist said something about a yeast infection (with the frequent urination) but that it probably wasn't it because there is no discharge from her "area". I wonder now if it is but I have already asked to treat something else without testing, so I don't want to do it again so soon. Her vet has been so sweet that I don't want to push it. I wonder if there is anything over the counter for this. Am I imagining it or is excessive itching from food allergies sometimes related? I'm sorry about Roxy. Can you go yet tonight?

| I think next time I talk to her vet I will just ask her to go with me on this and listen to my problems. I'm sure she will and maybe she'll have ideas

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Very informative article posted Thanks to Wylie's Mom! This article was very informative. Wish I had knowledge of this information years ago with a beloved pet that had yeast skin infection on her back. The Vet at that time was not very helpful. He only gave her the antibiotics and ended up giving her Steroid shots. I felt so helpless in not knowing what to do to help. I desperately want to prevent this with my new baby. Thanks for all the advice from YT.

Even worse --- antibiotics AND steroids are often the cause of an initial overgrowth of systemic or local yeast! So, talk about adding fuel to the fire! (for example, for women - they will often get yeast infections following a run of antibiotics; hopefully, just vaginal - but for some, it can turn systemic - without them knowing bc the symptoms are so vague and widespread)
