| What should I feed my Yorkie? Hello My name is Maria and I am getting ready to get my new yorkie baby Gracie on Tuesday Jan 11 , and I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on what I should feed her? I asked the breeder what was she feeding her and she said Mighty dog food, and I definitely want to change that! |

| Welcome Maria and on the 11th we can welcome little Gracie!! How old is she - you must tell us loads about her!! Whereas you may want to change what she's fed on I recommend that you do it very gradually as a pup can react very badly to a sudden change but no doubt you know this. I was lucky and agreed with what our breeder was feeding our two on so I didn't have to change anything except when they got older of course! Bet you're not just counting the days now but the hours too?!! I know how excited I was!! Luv, Ana xx |

| Definately change......... Definately get your yorkie on a different food. We feed our yorkies Iams. It really is totally different than Purina, which is what I've always had my dogs on. It's good for dogs to be on hard food, not soft. Good luck and congrats!! |

| I feed Hercules Eukanuba. He seems to like it. Like Gypsy Rose said, if you decide to change food, make sure you do it slowly. First use 75% of old food and 25% of new, then 50% of each, then 25% of old and 75% of new until your baby is ok with all of the new food. That's what I did when I got Hercules and changed him over to Eukanuba and he did not get sick at all. Good luck!! |

| Welcome, Maria and little Gracie!! We are all excited about your new baby! We first tried Toto on the frozen Bil Jac that our breeder gave us and we couldn't get her to eat a bite of it! We then began trying others that she and our vet recommended ... she wouldn't have any of it! So began our relationship with our "finicky eater"! We finally discovered Natural Balance which comes in a roll ... looks, smells and my husband says also tastes like "summer sausage"! Yep! Patrick tastes all of Toto's food! We also found that she loved the Royal Canin Yorkshire 28. She ate the Natural Balance for about a year and has now begun to refuse anything but veggies [they must be fresh not canned] and the Royal Canin! So ... with the blessing of our vet, our little brat has now become a veggetarian!! You are in for a lot of fun and frustration ... if you are not a patient person, your baby will teach you the "patience of Job!" Our little Toto [who is now 17 months] is the sweetest, most intelligent little girl we have ever seen! Our lives revolve around her and she allows us to serve her!!!

| puppy food I have both of my yorkies on Iams puppy food. I couldn't keep them seperated on the pup and adult food. I have noticed that my 4 yr old is gaining weight. I guess maybe it might not be the right thing to do, or the weight gain could be because of winter. We are not outside as much as in warmer weather. We do go for alot of walks. What does everyone think about having an adult on puppy food? |

| I understand it must be hard to feed two dogs different foods, but I definitly don't think it's healthy to have your adult dog on puppy food. It's especially made for puppies and is higher in fat than adult food. That is probably the reason why your 4 yr old has put on the weight. If you have a problem getting them to eat the right food then you may need to feed them at seperate times or have them eat in seperate areas. If you think your dog is too over weight you might want to check with your vet about a good diet plan. Good Luck!
