I'm just now seeing this and wanted to send my prayers out for your little guy and hope he'll get over this so he can be 100% well again.

I just popped on this thread I had no idea it was even going... I wish I had seen it earlier... I am a director and deal with tons of doctors.. MDS not vetnarians and this is my suggestion to try.. Check with your vet to see if it is ok.. I know it is ok for humans...Im almost positive it will be ok but if something was to go wrong I do not want to be the one to blame. Make sure your baby can not lick it .

Try bathing his ears in SELSUN BLUE it has selenium sulfide 1/% It is a dandruff shampoo GET IT AT WALMART $6.00 GET THE DAILY ! One of my docs swears by this stuff and has told all his patients to use it for allergies ringworm, fungal type situations. IT WORKS TRUST ME IT WORKS.. Anything comes up on the skin we bathe in this and WHAMO ALL GONE!

This is my suggestion if you find out it is not harmful. Put it on his ears it will coat on there like CALADRYL let it dry he will have BLUE EARS haha.. Then wash off once it dries apply 3 times a day for 3 days and update us....

I truly in my heart if this was my dog I would try this...

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll call my vet and see if she thinks it's okay. The only thing I worry about is whether or not it might react with the other medicines he's on. He currently gets his ears washed with a special shampoo every other day as well as a daily topical ointment. I don't know if the Selson would cause those medications to not work or vice versa.

I might be crazy, but I *THINK* there has been a slight improvement with Marty's ears. Maybe I'm just being hopeful, but Brendon and I both think it looks a little better today. Hopefully we aren't just imagining it! Just wanted to share my good news with you. :)

That's wonderful news. I am sure there is an improvement.
You have been watching him so closely you would know if something
looks different. I am so happy for you. Prayer's coming that it continues
until Marty's ears are just soft and fluffy once again.:hands: :hands: :hands: :hands:

All of the scabs are gone now and instead there are really dark black spots where the scabs were. Do you guys think this is a good sign or a bad sign? :confused: :confused:

I guess I wasn't imagining the change after all...

Purely a guess (or wishful thinking) but I'd say it's better. The dark spots may be just the damaged tissue from being scabby for so long. Like if you have a sore for a long time, there is discoloration after it seems to be all healed up. :confused:

We knew you don't imagine things!! ;)

Thinking of you and always remember the vet diagnoses "out loud". Took Charlie in for another thyroid test, conversation was "could be Cushing's, ALT was high...evaluate again in 4 weeks, if high, then biopsy for liver, etc...my eyes were big as saucers and gulped". Came home and began reading everything on the internet, kept looking at Charlie and thinking the worst. Finally, I told myself to calm down.

My best advice is to try to relax. Look forward to further positive news on your sweet pup. Warmly, Deborah

Glad to hear Marty's ears are getting better. Hopefully that will be the end of it and it is nothing more serious.
