| Yup, a couple reasons why she takes this stance are !. Science Diet let her tour their facility and most companies won't, which is a red flag and 2. there is no guarantee that all these "premium" foods are premium at all. There are only two kinds of meat: "fit" or "unfit" for human consumption. The premium dog foods don't say they are fit for human consumption. They say that they are "human grade". That term isn't defined by AAFCO, so it can mean whatever the company wants it to mean. So if the food doesn't say "fit for human consumption", then there is no guarantee that it is. You would have to ask individual companies this I guess. That is one of the reasons I homecook.

| Thanks for the info! My vet kind of said the same thing, since Zoë is on Science Diet (the breeder feeds it to her dogs) and I asked the vet if I should switch her to Solid Gold or another premium food. She said I could but it likely wouldn't make a huge difference other than in price. I'm still thinking about it. She is a picky eater, so making a very slow switch might be a good thing. There are just so many opinions out there (and in here) about what to feed them, it's very confusing! :S
