She won't stop throwing up... Ellie has been throwing up all day. She started before breakfast. I figured maybe stomach bile so gave her breakfast. She threw that up and she is empty because not she is just vomiting foam. I will give her something with electrolytes but I'm so nervous. The vet would be best but since her liver is so messed up right now there hands may be tied (unless she stays there on IV:( ). I think we'll wait it out a bit longer but I'm really worried. |
Do not wait. Please call the vet for Ellie. It will set your mind at ease and get her stomach back in order. |
Aw, I hope she feels better! Yea, call the vet. |
Thanks guys. I know she is okay right now. If she can't hold down water later tonight then I will probably take her. She doesn't really dehydrate (I am watching her gums) I am just nervous with her liver... Does anyone know what they give to settle a liver compromised dog's stomach at the vet? |
Honey and water will help settle her stomach until you can get her to the vets. |
She certainly hasn't lost her appetite. She was standing by the fridge. |
Oh, no! I've used Pepto w/ good success, have you tried that? Also, you could even try what helps us humans - like soda crackers or some bread - this will help absorb some yucky juices too. |

Hmmm, I wonder if she is allowed to have Pepto. I can't call the vet because they won't tell me over the phone and I don't want to go quite yet. Well atleast we have med choices and maybe something will fit her.:) |
Just gave her pedialyte (pediasure is better but it has corn something or other in it:rolleyes: ). We'll see if she holds it down. |
Crystal I dont have any advice that hasnt already been suggested but I am sure hoping Ellie is better soon |
Hope she holds it down... Keep an eye on her and keep up posted :) |
Oh, dear. Not this, too! As if you don't have enough to worry about with Ellie. Pedialite is good if she can keep it down. If she's not 100% by tomorrow, though, I'd take her to your vet. She may not need an IV, but just an office visit with subq fluids if you bring her in soon enough. :getwellso |

LOL...Just what I was thinking. Anyway, so far, so good!!!:) The Pedialyte has stayed down so far... I might try honey tonight and I have to get some water into her in a bit. Her gums are pink and skin tenting suggest no dehydration. I don't know if I'm going to feed her tonight but if she throws up tomorrow she will go to the vet. Please, anyone who is reading this and your Yorkie has these symptoms, GO TO THE VET... I am taking a chance here because I know Ellie well enough and I don't think we are in danger since her gums seem fine and she is not lethargic. She still wants to eat and play. |
