She won't stop throwing up... Ellie has been throwing up all day. She started before breakfast. I figured maybe stomach bile so gave her breakfast. She threw that up and she is empty because not she is just vomiting foam. I will give her something with electrolytes but I'm so nervous. The vet would be best but since her liver is so messed up right now there hands may be tied (unless she stays there on IV:( ). I think we'll wait it out a bit longer but I'm really worried. |
Do not wait. Please call the vet for Ellie. It will set your mind at ease and get her stomach back in order. |
Aw, I hope she feels better! Yea, call the vet. |
Thanks guys. I know she is okay right now. If she can't hold down water later tonight then I will probably take her. She doesn't really dehydrate (I am watching her gums) I am just nervous with her liver... Does anyone know what they give to settle a liver compromised dog's stomach at the vet? |
Honey and water will help settle her stomach until you can get her to the vets. |
She certainly hasn't lost her appetite. She was standing by the fridge. |
Oh, no! I've used Pepto w/ good success, have you tried that? Also, you could even try what helps us humans - like soda crackers or some bread - this will help absorb some yucky juices too. |

Hmmm, I wonder if she is allowed to have Pepto. I can't call the vet because they won't tell me over the phone and I don't want to go quite yet. Well atleast we have med choices and maybe something will fit her.:) |
Just gave her pedialyte (pediasure is better but it has corn something or other in it:rolleyes: ). We'll see if she holds it down. |
Crystal I dont have any advice that hasnt already been suggested but I am sure hoping Ellie is better soon |
Hope she holds it down... Keep an eye on her and keep up posted :) |
Oh, dear. Not this, too! As if you don't have enough to worry about with Ellie. Pedialite is good if she can keep it down. If she's not 100% by tomorrow, though, I'd take her to your vet. She may not need an IV, but just an office visit with subq fluids if you bring her in soon enough. :getwellso |

LOL...Just what I was thinking. Anyway, so far, so good!!!:) The Pedialyte has stayed down so far... I might try honey tonight and I have to get some water into her in a bit. Her gums are pink and skin tenting suggest no dehydration. I don't know if I'm going to feed her tonight but if she throws up tomorrow she will go to the vet. Please, anyone who is reading this and your Yorkie has these symptoms, GO TO THE VET... I am taking a chance here because I know Ellie well enough and I don't think we are in danger since her gums seem fine and she is not lethargic. She still wants to eat and play. |

Oh my goodness. Ellie what are you doing to your poor Mommy :( j/k - I can't beleive she is vomitting like that. I hope it is just a one time thing :( |
I gave her some water 15 minutes ago and it is still staying down.:) It's been a looooooong two days. She threw up about 8 times total (3 or 4 times quite a bit and the others not as much) and dry heaved quite a bit. I need to go to bed but I think I might stay up with her. I am anxious to hear your doggies BAT results. |

P.S. Me too. They don't go until Monday and then I won't get the results until Tuesday :( - Like I said though, I know Roxy's will still be high... |

I don't think so. It started this morning before any food. It started after she woke me up with the whole allergy thing (dunno if you saw my other thread:rolleyes:). |
Just make sure she has plenty of fresh water till she sees a Vet. I wouldn't give her anything to eat for awhile. Here is a good list to go by, but please don't give anything without a Vet. permission. http://dogs.thefuntimesguide.com/ima...-for-pets2.jpg |

I am forcing the water issue (just a little bit) because Ellie doesn't like drinking. That link was highlighted on my screen. I was there the other day.:) I have no idea what meds on that list a liver compromised dog can have though. Thankfully she may not need any.:D :D :D I will check with the yahoo group if need be. |

That's good you are forcing water. My vet has me give Lady Pedialite with an infant's syringe when she has a tummy upset. They can go without the food, but not water. |
Crystal, I'm sorry that Ellie is going through all of this!!! Poor girl and poor you! Plain pedialyte is good to keep her hydrated, and if you have to force it with a syringe, then that's okay... One thing that helps settle their tummies is called Nux Vomica..It's a homeopathic thing that helps with nausea...You just drop a 2 beads in her mouth without touching it so that it doesn't lose it's potency... You can get it at a health food store, and it comes in a little container that looks like a chapstick. This has worked for Miko in the past. |

Good Morning Everyone, I think she is better today. I haven't fed her yet (on my way now). Hopefully she holds it down. If not, vet time. I remembered you saying something about Nux Vomica before. Of course I don't have any on hand. I probably should get some. |

Let's hope she keeps her breakfast down! |
