				   | Is it necessary for a yorkie that never runs around outside? I have been so concerned because Tricksie is due for her shots tomorrow and I have had several people tell me that their yorkies have had problems and some Vets don't even give it. Did a little research and the disease is caused mainly from rodents, she is never exposed to them.

				   | Then its not needed. Its only needed in lepto problem areas anyway

				   | Spoke to my Vet yesterday about my concerns and she said they have never had a problem with this vaccine. Think I will tell them not to give it to her. Thanks

Mine will be going to Daycare so I will need to get this vaccine for him, but it still worries me. My breeder's dogs have had it and haven't had any reaction to it so that makes me feel alittle better..... |

				   | I never give mine Lepto, there really aren't any cases of Lepto around here anyways. I just think it isn't work the risk. The vaccine itself only covers a strand of the lepto virus. That means there are still several strands of lepto out there that your dog can get and the vaccine won't do any good in preventing it.

| My furkids Donating Member | Doesn't Lepto prevent whip worms? My vet doesn't give Lepto to small dogs...Some have had very bad reactions to it. I wouldn't have allowed them to get it anyway. Matter of fact I am having titers done on the girls before they get any miore vacs. I don't feel getting vacs every year is necessary. Just like humans,...they eventually build up an immunity and don't need the vacs as often...except for rabies.
