| Skin irritation/scabs-not the mange Barney is 7 months old and is experiencing a bad skin rash. He is itching alot and creating scabs all around his neck and head. The vet check said it is not the mange but gave special shampoo and an antihistimine and a RX for an antibiotic. he is fed Nutro Max. Any similiar problems or experience with this food? i'm thinking he might have an allergy causing this. |

| *sigh* allergies... i say this as i am telling Layla to STOP scratching.... she has environmental allergies (i think) but the most common food allergies are corn, chicken, wheat... make sure your food has none of these in it.. if it does.. you should switch.. or try homecooking even if it is just for a while to eliminate the food that is bothering him. otherwise you can always get allergy testing done.. though i hear it is expensive! for the time being Children's liquid bendryl works great! |

| I would definitely look at a different food. I used to breed Bichons had horrible problems with allergies - I believe corn was a huge problem in their diet. You might want to look at www.dogfoodanalysis.com - there you can learn about foods and also compare ingredients in food. Most yorkie owners avoid 6 star foods due to large amounts of protein & tend to feed 4 or 5 star foods. Building a better dog really does start on the inside. I would strongly encourage you to change foods.
