| Big House to Apt. need new feeding advice!!! For the last 3 1/2 years of having Yorkies we have always left food and water to have as wanted or needed. We had a courtyard for them and they were let out to eliminate every 3 hours..screech..now we are in an upstairs apt. above our office and we are using pee pads....AND I mean lots of pee pads..I think they are getting way too much water and food. they are peeing 7-8 times a day each and pooping 4-5 times each .I want to hear from Yorkies owners that have feeding schedules and see what you do???Thank-you! Steph

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | wow - they go alot don't they ? I'm moving from a 3 bdrm house to an apartment and my girls are also used to being let out whenever they need to be - so I'll be watching this - (mine don't go that often if this is any help - They pretty much pee whenever - but the other is usually once a day) When I'm at work they've been pretty good about either using a pad or waiting till I get home - BUT - they don't eat or drink hardly anything when I'm gone - they're too busy with their little noses at the door listening for my car it COULD be the food you have down for yours - maybe try another brand ? |

| Try switching to Innova Evo dry food. The poops are very compact and much fewer, less stinky, too! I prefer to free feed, if your dogs aren't use to free feeding prepare for them to gorge themselves for a couple of weeks till they learn that the food will always be there. Then they regulate themselves and eat enough to maintain themselves. |

I've always had apartments and recently moved into a townhome. Meka gets breakfast @ 7:00 then dinner @ 4:30. I always leave a small bowl of water out... She usually has a snack or treat in between feeding times. She's pad trained and pee's normally only poops after her feedings

and even with eating chicken - only one poop PER day per yorkie I'm pad re-training and it's still hit or miss but I swear Cheri was so happy today to see me come home from work she did hers right on a pad that's been unused for 3 weeks - - I have no idea what brought THAT on but I wish she'd do that everyday ! | |

| Sometimes a move or just anything that disrupts their usual routine can sometimes cause diarrhea and vomiting too. I'm sure when the dust settles, so to speak, they will fall nicely into a new life style. I know some dog foods have a lot of fillers, so either home cook (which is the best) or get them on to a premium dog food can cut down on the frequent poops. |

| They are pooping too often. I would switch foods. Iams/Eukanuba is very cruel to animals anyway. Seven to eight times is a lot of pee too (not to the extreme point though). Ellie goes pee 5 or 6 times a day and poop 1 or occastionally 2 times a day.
