| Anesthesia Suggestion I was doing research on puppy medications and came across an interesting discussion from a vet about Anesthesia in small breed dogs and why the deaths are more than for humans. He basically advised requesting a second veterinarian to act as anesthetist during surgeries on your dog since this is what is done with humans and so problems are caught earlier and death is more preventable. It will cost more but would be worth it. Anyway, I thought it was an interesting. Here is the link for nayone who would like to read the whole thing. http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/danthdea...and%20reaction |

| Thanks for posting this link! A friend of mine had a 7 month old pug taken in yesterday to get spayed and she died . They said she went into seizures from the anesthetic and then cardiac arrest and then she died. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this vet in the future. On that note, it's interesting to read all of the dangers and truths about anesthetics for pets. I can't imagine losing my little girl period much less at 7 months of age! This link has informed me for the next time I take my pet in to get "fixed". |

| That is so sad. I always worry about these things.....ugh. I have considered not having any spaying or nuetering done simply for this reason. I'm not making plans until I feel comfortable. Mine are so little.........then also what about having their teeth cleaned? They fo under for that too, right?

| I have heard you can get them cleaned without putting them under but they can't always get below the gum line and do a thorough job. I an so sorry to hear about the pug! I hop this will prevent some needless deaths. |
