| Check around your house and see if you find any other females either engorged like the one your dog had or a little black round one. The males (look like spiders) and are also black or reddish if small. The female engorged gives birth and that's when you have to her ALL of them or the infestation continues. I've used Frontline on my dogs ticks and it has gotten rid of them. You must use it for at least 3 months. The tick cycle is every 15 days. Have your lawn sprayed to kill all of them. |

| I didnt take it out. I tried last night but was so grossed out I couldnt do it. I almost threw up....literally. Im very squeamish! So, I called my vet and I am taking him in the morning. The funny thing is, when I told him he said "are you sure, because the weather here is too cold for ticks" Then I told him we were in Nashville for a few days..then he said, "Oh yeah, then it is a tick...bring him in tomorrow!" Does this hurt at all?Im guessing no because it isnt bothering him too much... he seems pretty normal.

Thanks for the tip. I was in tennessee over the thanksgiving break...now mind you that was two weeks ago! So it has been there all this time. That is where he got it. I took him outside in my moms backyard and it is kind of a wooded area. I knew it wasnt here because Its too cold I dont take him out in any wooded areas. I didnt notice it until I gave him a bath...poor thing! We are going to the vet in the morning thank God!

| Sorry it took me so long to update everyone, I had a busy weekend. Anyway, I took Izzy to the vet on Saturday and he took the tick out...yeah! Izzy is fine, the vet said that all I need to do is buy a tick collar for him and let him wear it when we go back to tennesseek. It left a small scar but not noticeable at all. He also said the tick he had did not carry any diseases plus he said it was easy to come out. It was probably going to fall off on its own. Thank you to all for the concern and great advice. He is back to normal and my stomach is not queasy anymore.
