| Human Food Daily? You guys, I have a question. Is it ok to feed a yorkie good amount of human food daily?? I feed my 11 months old Max twice a day morning and night, and I give him one (meal size) snack during the day. Sometimes I give him a long chewing stick for a snack or other times a greenie. But some days, I give him bread, boiled eggs, ham, fruits of all kinds except citrus, crackers, pretzels, potatoe chips, bisquets, cookies, ice cream and this guy even likes eating salad... And this is a good meal size I am talking about. Like a size of a boiled egg. I do this quite often and I am worried. He has a sensitive stomach, you know, we all know that our yorkies like to throw up, but he doesn't ever throw up after eating these things. But still, it's human food. So, is this bad for him?? Or is this ok to do this daily??

| you know some people say it's okay some say it's not...so to me your best bet is to call and ask your vet. i do know that raisins and grapes are very bad for them, and as far as ice cream goes dreyers makes ice cream especially for dogs!! so you can try that out but for now i wouldn't give him anything else until you consult your vet.

| Sorry I don't want to offend but that doesn't sound like a diet that would even be good for a human. If you feed human food it must be a balanced diet we fed only human food for years to our chi but it was a mix of boiled chicken, egg, rice, vegetables and a vitamin suppliment too. |

| The vet that I work for says no human food for dogs. I don't give my dogs any people food. It can make them fat. And that leads to health problems. Maybe a little bit once in a while but not every day. I have seen dogs that are so obese, We ask people what they are feeding there dogs and they talk about all this people food. The # 1 thing we tell them is to cut out the people food. You wouldn't believe how much weigh a dog can lose just by cutting out people food. It has alot more fat and calories then dog food. Hope that helps. Wendy@newyorkies.net |

| I give Gus boiled chicken, ground beef, steak, and fruit more so after his accident. But only after asking the vet what I can and can't give him. Now that he is completly well and gained the oz. that he lost and then some, I have cut back on the people food because I noticed his teeth were getting dirtier faster. He's now back to mostly dog food, so he's not eatting as much so I give him nutri-cal 3 times a day. As a treat I will still give him meat, but only a tiny amount given by hand and not in his bowl and only after we are done eatting our dinner. My nieghbor has a chihuahua, and they feed him nothing but people food. He's past that cute chubby look. He even grunts when he walks. They think it's cute,, The sight scares me and I feel so sorry for the dog, Oh,,,,,, I know all dogs are not alike. But beware of eggs, they give my Gus REALLY bad smelly gas!!! ppuuuucccchhhhyyyyy

| My dogs only eat dry kibble every day. However, I give them scrambled eggs, ground beef and broiled chicken occassionally - as in once or twice a week at most. I also give them every day 1 greenie each and 1 bully stick (cut in half) to split. I stopped giving them wet dog food because it was giving them a lot of tartar and I noticed their teeth would bleed after eating hard food (such as a baby carrot. My vet said too much soft food makes their teeth weak. I also give them (as a snack) baby carrots, green beans (fresh and boiled), green melon and strawberries. But I do not give them these type of snacks every day. I would not recommend giving your baby human snacks more than 1 or 2 times a week.

| I don't think a dog should be eating potato chips or anything greasy...these things are unhealthy for us imagine what they must do to their system...Maximus is only allowed "healthy" human treats by me..such as watermelon, apple, green beans, melon, baby carrots and HIS DOG FOOD...my bf will give him a piece of chicken the size of a dime occasionally but I have encouraged him to stop this because I don't want him to grow a distaste for his food

| Where can I get dreyers ice cream for dogs? I think that is so cool! Shelby loves ice cream, and I had no idea they make ice cream specifically for dogs! |

| My Coco loves icecream, well the doggie kind mostly. I've given her a couple licks of my icecream before, and she really likes it a lot, and she will sit in front of me, when I'm eating it, and whine, and whimper until I let her have some. This has only happened about 3-4 times though. Other than that, I give her dog food. She occasionally has a piece of cheese, but that's only if I'm trying to give her a heart worm pill, she doesn't like to eat them plain anymore...oh well. If she doesn't want to eat her dry food, I mix a small amount of luke warm water with her dry food, and she'll eat that. Or, I mix dry and wet food together. The important thing is, she eats, right.

| Actually, when I was growing up, my mom had a yorkie, and her dog was named Coco. I thought it was such a cute name, I named mine "Coco Puff". Because of the cereal Cocoa Puffs, coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs... I'm just coo-coo over my Coco Puff. It's stupid, but, it totally makes me laugh.
