| dry skin on tummy Hi everyone, I just noticed Gino has some dry skin on his tummy. However, he doesn't have dry skin under his fur. Is there a special lotion i can put on him? He doesn't itch at it. thanks, Stacy

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Do you give him anything w/ EFAs/omegas in it, bc that might help from the inside out (treat the cause rather than symptom)....

| As above mentioned, I'd treat it from the inside out first. Consider changing your pup's shampoo, think of anything you've changed recently that could have caused it - diet, laundry detergent, anything you've introduced to your house... I'd put some rice bran oil onto the dry skin. It's not toxic, it will help put some moisture back into the skin and change the shampoo to one that's very PH neutral for sensitive skin. Those are my suggestions. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i'd also suggest giving him some omega fatty acid supplements. Salmon oil is the best and you can get the liquid form you just pump onto their food. Also an oatmeal shampoo may help.

| With cold weather comes dry itchy skin from all the dry air. You could give the omega 3 & 6 fatty acids and rub vegetable glycerine on the skin. A humidifier also helps. |

| I'd try to think if you changed anything that could have caused it, and in the meantime I'd put some cream on it, or use a shampoo for dry skin.

| Try the Grizzly Salmon Oil Harley's tummy looked like that and he also chewed his hands some. I got some of the oil and it works great. He loves it too!

| I found a lotion at Petco for itchy skin, the bottle was white and green, and it worked immediately. |
